Hey guys, I bought a buck vanguard a little while ago, And im looking to buy another knife. But what I'm wondering is, How would you compare SOG's aus-8 to Bucks 420HC. I like my vanguard, But I want to try something smilar and afordable in aus-8.

thanks for the help.

...Buck's 420 HC is hard to beat for an EDC whether you're using it to open envelopes or gutting a deer...Tough, easy to sharpen and holds a great edge...

oh come on, give me a reason why. Seriously, and honestly does buck do such a good job on their 420HC to out class aus-8

I doubt the average knife user will notice the difference between 420HC and AUS-8, the Buck will sharpen easier possibly, as it lacks Vanadium and Molybenum.

I have Aus 8 SOGs. They are Ok but not brilliant. For a general EDC then I would go for Bucks 420HC every time. Its easy to sharpen and takes a real nice edge. Why not go for a Buck 110? You don't get much more affordable than a buck 110 and trust me... its a great great knife. The SOGs are like I said ok.

My 02 would be get a 110 you will like it - I know that the Vanguard is a FB... and the 110 is a folder. But I would try a 110

Fonly, would it surprise you a whole lot if I recomended the Buck?
But seriously, I have yet to use aus-8 so I cant help you with this.
