An interesting question was brought up over in the Traditional Forum where I was asked if I knew what K-Horn was made of. If I do a search on Google it talks about it being Celluloid. Does anyone know about K-Horn. Thanks!

That particular K-Horn is a delrin type plastic I believe.

These older 896K and 234K are a celluloid, often called Butter & Molasses cell. I think this is what they were trying to match.

Another delrin type K-Horn, with a smooth bone look. Same pattern numbers.

So does the K-Horn last longer then Celluloid. It appears to be a very durable material.

The pre-1960 K Horn IS celluloid. The later K Horn is Delrin plastic and is basically indestructible. But not as pretty because it is more opaque. Great Eastern Cutlery presently uses an acrylic plastic on some knives that is close to the old celluloid in appearance.
