us jawga boys are about to get some more severe weather according to the news...be prepared & stay safe

Yes, I believe the emergency operations center is on notice. I can't believe how different it is here than up North. I mean, when I lived in Chicago we would take 6" of snow and never miss a beat. However, by 9:00 AM all the streets...and I mean residential- were plowed. That just doesn't happen here so anything that comes down and sticks turns the highways into a bobsled run. And lets be honest, getting around ATL on a balmy summer day is hard enough.

I saw on the news they are already warning trucks to stay out of ATL if it snows. Um. That is kind of a challenge. If ALL the trucks stay out of ATL for 24 hours then gas stations run out of gas and grocery stores start missing deliveries.

I think Andy lives close enough to make it to work with an inch of snow so Fiddleback production will be ok.... but if one of those chicken trucks jackknifes, he may have to hike a block or so.... :-)

ahhh .. they're all punch crazy now. The Governor has even formed a 'winter storm task force' and has asked a bunch of meteorologist to be on his task force. Now all the weathermen are on TV bragging how they're on a State Task Force .. I mean seriously? Idiots. grrrr.

Jawga isn't the only southern spot with snow. We've got 2" on the ground now, snowing heavily and the main storm doesn't get here until tomorrow morning. Forecast is for 8"+ in this area. Won't be on the roads to mail sheaths, so might light the forge and beat hot metal while the snow falls.:)

Now THAT is an emergency plan, Rick!

So for us it looks like rain/sleet hitting warm pavement today with big ice tomorrow. On my way to work I passed 2 snow plows that were just driving in the rain.
I believe this is kind of a "Show of force" from Georgia DOT. I have to admit, it was nice to see them out there even though there will be nothing for them to plow or spread sand on until tomorrow. :-)

Here's a shot from a few years ago. Looks like it could be a rerun tomorrow. Hardest thing is keeping the anvil hot with snow blowing on it.

My area is currently covered in a 1/2" of sleet ... schools closed for the next two days (minimum). NOT kidding when I say the grocery store shelves were BARE last night. My local municipality has set up a EOC (emergency operations center) and all non-essential personnel have been told to stay home. smh .. the apocalypse is coming, but it will only last til Thursday.

Rick,
That is the forge you had at Trackrock... very cool!
Bonafide
I am glad it will only go till Thursday! One of our directors kicked me out of the office about 11:30 with some urgent news of the "Frost Line". On my way home the roads were fine. It snowed like Alaska from the Perimeter to the south end of Cumming, but it melted as soon as it hit. I guess things will freeze up over night and then the frost zombies will start walking for sure. It won't be a big deal with everyone locked down.

lol .. yeah .. the sleet is gone here too. Warmed up and melted everything. Suppose to drop overnight to upper 20s .. crapola weather all day Weds and then Partly Sunny on Thursday to start great melt .. and in the 60s by Sunday. Good ol Georgia. Ya dont like the weather? Stick around, it'll change tomorrow.

No kidding! Our new moto should be "Georgia, the only place you can experience all four seasons in a week."

Crap... That's why I don't live in a city. I'll keep our winters.

Hang in there guys and stay safe!!

Major D,
You may think you are getting a deal, but our traffic would come with the trade!

Brahahaha .. exactly! When someone asks, 'how far is that from here?' we dont talk in miles - we say how long it's going to take.
