Well, Don't get excited, it is a limited edition Buck 301 for Buck Collectors Club members only. But I figured you guys would appreciate seeing and hearing about the process.

Since I am on the BCCI board, every time they talk about club knives I promote a 300 series folder. They finally wore down and said lets do a 301. Club VP Oden served as factory contact and I was an 'advisor' , sounds White House doesn't it. We had multiple discussions among ourselves and the factory designers. Cost being an important issue. I am sure I could have got a really super duper special stockman made but it would cost about the same as a custom knife. So anyway, we started discussing steel and factory offered a small amount of BG-42 they had in a corner. We were only making 200 total knives, so a little bit of steel would do. After that we settled on white micarta since we could not afford jigged bone, with 100 plain white and 100 laser etched with BCCI logo. They will also have a black paper liner under the scale. These are in the process of being made and we hope to be able to ship them to club buyers in late May. Anyway, I enjoyed being a part in the creation of this limited edition stockman. I will start working on a 303 now....ha How does D2 sound.....

Actually I may not even get one of these as I promised folks I would make sure all club members get first choice before I buy one. We have near 2,500 club members so even if less than 10% get one we will sell out. I know someone will ask price, a little below a $100. Sorry they didn't make more so some might free up for you non Buck guys to get for the satin finished BG42 blades (all three). But, it is an expensive endeavor for a club to undertake, I don't want to push my luck. Maybe if a 303 were to ever come up we could make plenty. Thanks for your association. FYI 300Bucks

That's great, good looking knife!:thumbup::thumb up:

How about a 303 and they loose the spay blade? That would be a very nice little edc pocket knife!

Very nice indeed !
The two modern folders I carry the most have BG-42. I would love to have a traditional with it.

That is pretty nice. I wish Buck would make some with bone covers. I'd have to get another 301 if they did. They should at least offer it in their custom shop like the Buck 110.

Cool knives, they just need some cool covers.

Great job 300Bucks you should get the first one. I think it is good to see the BCCI do something more than the 110. Don't get me wrong I like my BCCI 110's but a 301 will be good and a 307 awesome. What determined the number to be made?

Thanks for the project.

'What determined the number to be made? '

Cost, plain and simple.....remember we just got done with the expenses of the big Idaho meeting....Do the math, take $92 minus a small profit to support the clubs activities and then pay the shipping, then times 200.

I have pie in the sky discussed the 307 issue, but there is this thing called "tooling" that always seems to come up......remember Camillus only made those 307's under contract.

Nice going, 300!
Now that you got your toe in the water, I'll bet it's hard not to dive in!!
Great looking knife!!

I know we might be asking too much, but I would add a flat grind on the blades, and a jack configuration.
It doesn't hurt to dream, right? ;)
Nice job on those knives for sure :)

Hubba Hubba! A 301 in BG-42. Sweet!

One could only wish Buck would undertake something similar in the custom shop so that it would be more freely available. I'm guessing the 200 is a mere drop in the bucket for the actual demand.

Wow that is a looker. So some will be produced without the BCCI etch....I think I need to join BCCI so I can get a crack at one.

That's a superb looking knife, with some great specs. I've longed for Buck to offer the 300 series in different steel. That'll be a winner for sure. A D2 303 would nearly have to make a very good EDC knife. That's just a killer combo.

I agree, it would be great to see the custom shop options extended a little bit. A jack configuration has been something I would kove to see.
