I was moving some stuff around (okay, I had a bunch of knives piled in the cubby at the corner of my (L shaped) desk) and saw what I thought was an empty tweener sheath. Except it wasn't empty. No big deal - I figured it was my BK15. But, when I started to draw it (because who can just pick up a sheathed Becker and not take it out for a little fondling), the blade was clearly wrong. A 16 - untouched - that I had totally forgotten about.
Finding a new knife is always great; but this one is even better because my other three 16s are still sitting where I left them with no handles. (No handles = no fun)

Now....what should I do to it (after I get around to putting handles on at least 2 of the others, lol)? I'm sure I had something in mind when I bought it; but that was probably 4-6 months ago, and whatever idea I had is long since gone.

Ummm....if you have knives you're "finding" then maybe you should hide some at my house.

Y'know, for safekeeping.

I'd say put some scales back on the other ones and modify their edges with some woodcarving or skinnin' or such.

I just didn't remember buying that one - I do now. That section of my desk is basically controlled chaos...there's some display stuff in front of it, so the knives aren't visible to anybody that wanders in; but I have a pretty good idea what's there, and can lay my hand on any given knife in a matter of seconds. (I downgraded my knowledge of the selection because the 16 caught me by surprise.)
I appreciate the storage offer; but I haven't run out of room yet. I do need to take a day to reorganize, though...I've taken some knives from their normal resting places for various reasons, and it throws me off when I don't see them where they belong (or when I see them someplace they don't).

That would be a silly thing to do.... odds are good that you wouldn't leave happy.

hey! thats up my way...
i mean i grew up about 40 minutes from Rochester, left when i enlisted at 21...

It wouldn't be a bad place to live if we could get rid of Andrew Cuomo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

Hey, hhmoore where in upstate ny do you live? I live outside of Rochester.

Mike

West side or east side? I grew up in Chili, gradjiated from G-C a very long time ago. Moved back to the Rochester of my birth in NH (People in Rochester, NY could never figure out what the "NH" after Rochester stood for on my birth certificate) in '86 and have been living here on the seacoast of NH since then. I prefer this place by a mile, truth be told. Although, they really don't know what a good winter looks like, but they're still good folk.

I live in N Chili right off r259. I graduated from Greece Arcadia in "85. My son graduated last year and my daughter will in two years.
Roch NY, Roch NH, Roch MN, it's all the same,,,,,,, right?

Woohoo Rochester!! Brighton for me... I also am not on the level of having so many Becker's that I can just "find" one I didn't know about like wadded up 20 dollar bill. Must be exciting ;-)

Keep my hours and deal with my stuff for a few months - you'll realize that it has less to do with "having so many Beckers" than it does not having enough (sleep).

Yeah - me, too....but my body is finally starting to tell me otherwise, lol. It doesn't really bother me all that much; but my concept of time is very skewed. And, if I occasionally purchase a knife, unbox it, then put it someplace where I won't encounter it again for several months - I just enjoy the surprise when I find it. Of course, if during that "out of sight, out of mind" period I buy that same knife; I probably wouldn't be quite as happy.
