You done fooling around with them turkeys yet? Ok, question. Picked up a mint in box Buck 112 with white bone handles. Blade year marked with an X. Know anything about these?Who they were made for or if they were limited or whatever? A guy had 15 of these on ebay, was able to pick up two.
So Joe, Vern, or CJ remember these?
Thanks,
Dave

Dave,
I believe these knives were made for the European market. Who can enlighten us?

Dave,
The only 112 i saw was one with a corian handle. It was called a bone colored corian. From the picture you posted, it looks exactly like real bone though. Do you happen to have a catalogue number? If there is a upc number on the box, it will be the last 4 digits.
Take care,

Hi Joe,
Welcome back. The sticker on both ends of the box says Model 112WB, Catalog 8197
This is definitely real bone with the little pits and flaws that natural bone will have.

Thanks,
Dave

Joe,

I also am quite interested to know what you have discovered about these 112BWs. I was able to get two of them while they were available.

Thanks for your research for us on this.

Hey guys,
The 112wb, cat. number 8197 was made in 1990-1991. THere were only 400 made and they had a suggested retail of about $90.00 back then. In my opinion, they are worth more than that now, due to the low production quantity.
Hope this helps,

Joe,
I always appreciate the research efforts that you do for us (among other wonders), but in this case just saying "Thanks" falls far short of the mark.
I guess that it is true that occasionally even a blind pig (me) can find an acorn (with assistance).
Feeling very undeservedly fortunate and lacking more effective words, I will settle for ...

Thanks,
Wray

I had purchased 4 of the 112WB's when they were on ebay. One of the knives has a 112V blade. Might be a good idea to check your blade if you purchased one of the 15 knives. Wondered if anyone could give any information on the corian handles Joe mentioned - type of material and dates of manufacture? Thanks, Jeff

jjar,

The two that I bought are both marked 112X. I have no information at all about the corian handles.

The "V" and "X" after the model number on your blades are simply date codes for when the blades were manufactured. Most times the code gives a good indication of when the knife was assembled as well, but not always. For example, I have a 532 that I know was assembled in 2000, but has the date code for 1994 on the blade. For a listing of date codes from 1986-2006 go to:

I get the codes as:
V=1989
X=1990

Now, does anyone with an "extra" want to sell it? Fire me an email with a price.
Thanks. Ev

What a wonderful day.

I was at work today and this package arrived from Dave (Lifter4him). I guess I know why he bought two of these knives....he was kind enough to send one to me.

Dave, that was an awful nice thing to do and I cannot tell you how much I appreciate you and your thoughtfulness.

Thank you very much.

Very thrilled here in Alaska,
