Hey there fella, I need a Choiless Active Duty. Seriously. Why the freak haven't you folks made a CAD yet? What's it going to take to make this happen? Are you listening?!?! I really really really really really really really really really really rrrrrrrrrreeeeeeeeeeeaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaalllllllllllllllllllllllllyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy would appreciate it if you could do that. CHOILESS ACTIVE DUTY!!

I think they should take just about all their knives and do choiless version- I would buy a good bit of no-choil versions. sus scrofa, Meaner, TG, AA, Pork Shank, DSF- just to name a few.

You can always mod one to your own taste . This has been my EDC for a while .

TG no choil would be so sick

Just out of curiosity why the choil hate?

In a word, preference. This has been argued here countless times, most it seems are either indifferent or like them. These folks will typically cite 'choking up', aesthetics and ease of sharpening the entire blade as the primary reasons for this preference. I'm sure there are other reasons I may be missing, but this is mostly what I've seen mentioned when this discussion is bought up.

The minority appear to be those who dislike choils, I fall into this group though I do own a number of Busse's w/ choils. I subscribe to this preference mainly as it eliminates a potential snag point and I don't really care for the choked up choil grip (though useable I find bare metal to be less than comfortable in extended heavy cutting) or aesthetics.

I suppose modding could be a possible solution though it's not entirely realistic in all cases, considering the collector value that one will likely destroy in the process of modding the blade, time/cost of labor & constraints within the knife designs themselves.

I don't hate choils, I like them. That said, the choil on the TG is not useful to me due to the guard and I just think it would look sweet without one.

I don't think the choil is necessary on a blade as small as the AD. As for the custom shop, the $100 an inch throws me way off. If it were $100 an inch of blade, I could see it. But total length would be almost $800. I'll wait for Mr. Busse to do a run of CADs......

RAD summed it up pretty well. I personally dislike choils on small knives because I feel:
- a small choil does not give you the ability to choke up, and I do not feel choking up is needed on a small knife
- when slicing, the choil can snag on the material being cut
- the larger the choil the less cutting edge there is, and on a small knife I would rather have as much edge as possible
- regarding sharpening a knife without a choil, just be a little more careful when you get close to the ricasso.

I'm ok with a choil on a large knife, but I still feel it offers limited benefit.

I don't care if it is big choil small choil no choil..... What??? What does a choil matter to those with multiple blades? I will never understand that. Get the right tool for the job. There is no one size fits all. Is there?? Just my .02
