I recently got an Inkosi off of the Exchange. I did a quick look at the card a couple of times but just realized that it is S35Vn 59-60 Rc! I assume this is standard for the Inkosi? Sorry if this is old news, it just surprised me.

Yeah, that's awesome! I bet that they started updating all of the newer cards that are coming out. You can see where they used white-out on my card below to hand write in the RC numbers.

Hmmmm....I'm going to have to check some of my other cards Blad Man! I'll have to take a closer look at my Inkosi card to see if it is whited out - it has a BD of 9/28/15 - two days before yours Cory.

This is a moment where CRK has to take a humble "cap in hand" and apologize for a failure of communication between our technical side and our customer service side. Yes, around mid-2013, the RC hardness on all the folding knives (Damascus excluded) was changed from 58-59 to 59-60. Our guarantee cards, brochure and website did not reflect that change. We are not happy about this lack of communication and are in the process of updating the relative published material.

Chris made the decision after reviewing the performance of S35VN at both hardnesses. He has always been a proponent of a slightly lower HRC to ensure shock absorbency and ease of sharpening. When he was convinced that blades at 59-60 would perform extremely well and meet all of his criteria, the change was gradually implemented. Bear in mind this is a possible spread of only 3% and a likely change of only 1% in the hardness and not a major change at all.

According to the above quote, your 2014 zaan should be the higher hardness. I believe they just didn't update the bday cards until recently!

I just checked a February 25, 2015 Mnandi and the card says 58-59. But it is good to know they are 59-60 Rc!

I agree Vaporstang. It just gives me yet another reason to ask what the birthday is before buying one on the Exchange...

It does, however, make me wonder how many people can actually tell a difference between 1 or 2 points on the hardness scale. Any statements made within the last 2 years such as "I don't care for CRK because of their lower blade hardness" kind of seem irrelevant to me now.

Yep! Sometime in 2013 they bumped the hardness!

I know I have hear this before, but My 2015 Insingo still shows the old RC and not the current as some claim. I am not denying the fact that CRK said this is the case, just has me wondering why the card for the Mandi,(pic above) is adjusted but mine is not.

Just does not make sense to me.

I think they just started updating the cards early to mid September of this year.

So the card for my small sebenza 21 DOB September 17,2015 says the hardness is 58-59
Is the card correct, or is it really 59-60Rc due to the newer knives being 59-60?

This is my question also. Mine is from August 6th 2015.

It doesn't make sense to me why they would start adjusting the cards in sept 2015 if they changed the RC in mid 2013. Why wait 2 years to update the cards??? I don't understand.

Can someone clarify.

Guys...read Anne's post quoted above...the hardness was bumped up a while back mid 2013) but due to an internal communication error the change was never made to marketing material, the website and the birthday cards.

If you have a 2014 knife or newer, your knife has the new hardness. Plain and simple.

Perhaps someone can sharpen an old hardness knife and a new hardness knife back-to-back and report back if they really notice a difference.

I understand things happen, and of the two would rather they focused on the knives rather than the cards if a mistake were to happen.
