hey i am new to knives and blade forums  and have not bought to many knives i am looking for a good camp knife not over 7 inches and i want it to be a 100$ or less any suggestions?

I would normally post some link to one of my favorite brands. but since you didn't list any specifics, I am going to change my usual answer and say go shopping here! You will probably not regret it.

And the quality near your price point will be unlike any production blade.

Else, the ESEE, would be my choice.

Very good advice :)

Look at the Ontario RD series. Careful shopping should get you a RD-6 and it would make you a great knife. Blade steel is 5160 and is a good tough steel that is easy to sharpen and keeps a good edge. Blade is 6.5" long X .25" thick, so it will make a decent chopper should you call on it for that. I don't much like the sheath, but it is servicable. I do like the kydex sheaths that Chestnut Ridge Knife Shop sells to fit the RD series. Here's a link to a picture of the RD-6;

And WELCOME to the madness known as Bladeforums!!:thumbup::D

Order of preference:

Factory blades under $100

Kabar Potbelly (I love mine)
Kabar Becker BK 7
Kabar Becker Companion
Kabar Becker Magnum Camp (a little bigger than 7" but oh so nice)
Kabar USMC (various versions)

Iisakki Scout Knives

RAT series by Ontario (1095 steel)
Ranger series by Ontario
Spec Plus series by Ontario

ESEE is nice but most of them are at least $125.

The Knifemaker section and the individual for sale section always has nice fixed blades in the $100 range floating around on it.

My advice to you would be to stay the hell away from that link that Ron posted. As a matter of fact stay the hell away from this site entirely! Take a baseball bat to the computer. Burn the remains then bury the ashes.

I've just dropped over three hundred bucks on two different knives since last night. I dont even want to think about how much I've spent in the past couple weeks.

Take up smoking crack, it'll be easier to kick the habit once you are completely broke. . . Run while there's still time.

hey thanks guys BIG help i believe i am going to go with the rat 7 on the site cutter17 mentioned any objections? and BP green i think its to late for that now but thanks for the warning
