i was in the market for a 8-9" blade and was considering the rd9, rtak II and becker bk9 . i stumbled on a dealer closing out the rd9 for $83 and $7 to get it home so my choice was made pretty easy. i was leaning toward the rd9 anyhow because of the 5160 and 1/4" spine. it'll be my first 9" piece, i have a slew of 6-7 inchers. just wondering how you guys like your 9's ?

quick, buy an ontario sp 10, u wont be disappointed as a matter a fact at that price buy 2,as they are discontinuing the sp line

Save some money and get the Kabar Heavy Bowie for under $50. The handle shape is comfortable. Flat grind. It's a little under .25 at the spine so it's quicker than some other choppers but it will chop well when you slide your hand back and grip the bird's beak pommel.

I own an original RD9 made by Justin. They really are great knives and from what I have heard from people who own the ontario versions, the quality has been very good. Great knife and I dont think you will go wrong with it. For a knife that size, I really like .25" thickness.

I had an Ontario RD9 but sold it because the handle was too large/blocky for my medium sized hands.
