Needless to say, since getting Ernie's ok to do these Wave mods, which I'm calling "Rave" mods now to distinquish them from the factory ones: (Wave + Rice = Rave) I have been slowly getting some knives in the mail to do for folks.

Today I did two. An Endura and this ATR.

Sal, this ATR is the sweetheart or as some say, "the Bomb!", right here for Raved knives. This one is so smooth and controlled it has to be used to be believed and appreciated.

All I had to do to make it right was to take the clip off and bend it out some in my vice because it was far too tight to begin with. With that much force needed to get it off the pocket it couldn't possibly be controlled well with my Rave on it. But that is not an issue now.

By the way. This was my first opportunity to handle the ATR. I'm very impressed. Perhaps one of the smoothest opening best feeling knives I've handled in a long time from any manufacturer. Great designer I guess. :D

Anyway here it is after I did it. This is not my knife. I wish though.

Judging from the many threads and posts where your work has been pictured, you are a talented craftsman specializing in unique and original modifications of stock models.

I obtained a Ti-handled ATR about six weeks ago. It is a great folder. I was, and still am very impressed by its virtues which I partially described, on this forum when I got it. But I learned my lesson. I need tip-down carry which, unfortunately, negates waving. I am going to do a separate thread on my recent saga :D .

Wow. I was just thinking I didn't know anyone that even had an ATR. I must admit I had only given the ATRs a passing glance until this one arrived in the mail today for me to work it over. I had no idea of the price tag of the Ti model until this afternoon.

Bet you love that one indeed. I think I'd have it on a chain hooked to my belt.

I would imagine that the Ti model is a bit lighter. The only real draw back I could find with the SS model is perhaps the heft but it wasn't that bad really. In the hand it feels pretty good actually.

I know one is on my wish list now.

As for my mods and knife work. I just love cutlery. Pretty much play in the shop on my bench doing something most everyday. Some serious and some not so serious. It one of the few things in life I actually have a passion for anymore. Every now and then I'll even make my own handmades. Like the Whittle Jack pictured below. It keeps me out of trouble so the wife knows what I'm up to. :D

awesome job. I was very impressed with the ATR when I handled it. Its too bad that for me, the knife is just not quite practical. Its large and mean looking for one thing, and considering that I will be on a campus with a no weapons policy in 3 weeks that will be important. (they specify hunting knives in the ban, so they went out of their way to allow pocket knives, but there is the generic...or any other item readily available for use as a weapon).

Anyhow, your work, as always, is awesome.

ATRs are my fav spyderco, the SS isnt much heavier than the ti. i find them very practical for me, the blade is less than 3.5", thats short in my neck of the woods.

also thats the best wave job i have seen on a spyderco, that looks a lot better imho than the endura.

i always thought a waved ATR would rock.

how much do ya charge to wave one??
