Love that Neckmuk!
I had forgotten about the hatchet. It looks great.
Nice work John.

Did yours end up with cocobolo handles? I don't remember any final pics.

Looks great.!!!!. It got up to 40+ today, spring may get to the frozen Tundra yet. Water everywhere as the 60+ inches of snow is on the run.

I have some sticks all ready to chop up when the Hatchet gets there.:)

Nice Jim! The Ice Age is almost over for you. Congrats!

Not to derail this thread, but I've got to say that the time I spent in the Black Hills of South Dakota a few years ago on vacation was one of my favorites. (Another trip to the Badlands was great, just dry and hot.) Are you in North Dakota or South? Anyway Custer State Park was a treat. The bison, the mule deer, pronghorn, rattlesnakes, prairie dogs, the land, the sky... wow! I'm looking to visit Wind Cave and do some cross country hiking through the grasslands someday. Anyway, enjoy using your new tools. They look great.

I am in ND now but my farm is in SD. North of Wall SD. I was down in Rapid City last week. We are up here because of my wife's job. However she may retire in July. I lived most of my life near Wall and in the Black Hills. I love trout fishing in the lakes and streams of the Black Hills. I have great Mule deer hunting on my land in the Cheyenne river breaks.

I'd love to see some pics of your land and your new tools in use. Please share if you get a chance.

have you ever met anybody with the last name Gausvik in either Dakota? reason is, my great grandfather, on my fathers side, fled norway because he killed some guy in a bar fight. his original last name was andreason, but he changed it to Gausvik, his hometown in norway, to evade norwegian officials. he fled to canada shortly after the crime, then after several years there, he went down to north dakota. apparantly, a good protion of my distant relatives still live there, so i was just wondering.

The name sure sounds familiar. My Grandma was a Anderson. I think they moved to SD from MN. When she and my grandpa got married, she spoke only Norwegian and My Grandpa only Spoke German. However there were just so many girls and so many boys in the whole area so you chose what was there.:D The only travel was horse and wagon.

I will get some picture of my land. We will go down there this summer to build a elevated shooting stand with a small cabin under it. My land is a Mule deer run way from the river down below to the grain fields up on top.
