The old mercedes springs are something like 5160 steel. Not bad! The real surprise is when you realize how primitive the HI shop is. It is mostly all dirt floor and hand forged labor. No belt grinders, no power hamers, no heat treating machines; just alot of experienced hands.

Now if we could only get Jerry to lend them a few pounds of infi, or get Hi to lend Jerry a couple of Kamis... Wow! Now that would be a real collaborative effort.

Don't get too swell headed boys. . . The HI forum will probably road-kill us in less than a week. Great group of guys over there and although I do not have any personal experience with their khukris, the guys I know who do have 'em swear by 'em!

Enjoy the lead while we have it. . . . I think I see a set of "HI Beams" comin' up on us! :eek: :eek: ;)

Ya know...an INFI kukri might be cool in the SH or NO size range. You guys looking for chopping power might could be truly amazed.

The kukri is a super catch all field/utility knife. You can chop down a tree, reduce it to kindling, make "tent stakes", drive "tent stakes" or wedge it in a tree and hang your hammock from it.

I know a guy who spent some time with the Ghurkas, and saw all this stuff happen.

Combine that type of utility with the "Wauseon Wonder" and look out!
