Kershaw has taken the gloves off and brought in their big gun knife designer Ken Onion to work his mojo once again.
This time they have fired a shot right across the bow of CRK&T and other companies bringing out those big bang for the buck, low price knives.
I am, of course, talking about the new Ken Onion designed Kershaw Vapor II.
Here's a pic:

This is a knife that very nearly succeeeds at being "all that".
It's a full size 3 1/2" drop point blade, slim 5/16" handle thickness, Torx screw construction, Integral Frame Lock with gentlemen's knife good looks and the heart of a hard working utility/defense folder all rolled into one.
And all for around $30.00!
A FULL SIZE FRAME LOCK FOR $30.00?!!
You betcha!
The Frame Lock is slightly over 1/16" thick on my sample and easily passes a spine whack test.
The blade is full height flat ground and tapers down to a very good working thickness at the edge. The knife is hair popping sharp OOB. Edge bevel looks to be about 15 degrees.
The action, ohhhh the action(!), is smoother than ice coated Teflon.
The handle, while quite slim, is very comfortable for my hands. Every nuance of the the handle's curves seems to sit in the right place for my mitts. I'm actually surprised at how well the knife sits and grips in my hand for the slimness of it.
I just walked in the door with this rascal so I haven't had the chance to check edge retention yet, but I will get to that by this weekend.
I'm taking a chance and saying I believe it will compete with the other companies using AUS-6A and 420HC in their blades. I will post my results in this thread this weekend(crossing fingers and thinking "hopefully"), be it good or bad.
My first impressions though are RUN! don't walk to get one of these while they are around. They are a limited edition item of 1000 pieces, IIRC.
