Hello steel wielders;

I've had my forums. There; along comes a new guy(I'm a new guy) and boy does he get told how he wasted cash on his un-researched purchase when asking: "what about this cool thing I got.

So here I am, hitting some sites, hunting for a couple gen. purpose woodsy acting blades. I have went and online bought 1 Puronvarsi 100x27 mm, and 1. Anssi 150 150x28 mm. knife blades. Are these worth 2x+ cost of laminated mora?

My first post-you guys have come up in some of my googles so I thought I'd join
up! I like hone rocks and carbon steel blades, and being outside. so I reckon I found a home?

Welcome to the forum. :thumbup:

I don't have any personal experience with either blade but I think I can safely say they're worth 2x the price of the Mora (not that a Mora is a bad knife). The Puronvarsi blanks seem to be fairly popular with those making their own handles.

Welcome aboard! This is one of the better forums for learning and sharing ideas. I too haven't heard of those knives, when you get the opportunity, do up a small review.

Welcomes appreciated friends. Thanks.

I poorly estimated the cost ratio I'd say. Lets say it was a typo. :o

I think it has been too long since I've had a 6 inch long knife. I should have asked for one of the shorter ones. I would feel uncomfortable with such in general, but especially so in the presence of LEO should such a rare thing occur. 12, 14 16 in. I know that's big but six looks like 7 or 8 to me-I dont know why

I guess I can only be sure what I want when I actually see it.

One of the things I read in searching Puronvarsi here was uneven grinds. That's what I got. 5.2mm thick though, between 3/16 and a 1/4 inch.

What is too thick in your experience(s)?
