A few days ago I posted some knife grinding jigs called ANGLE PRO over on the supplies and tools section. Have had lots of interest and quite a few orders ( thank you very much) one order in particular I had to give some thought to was to make one for A harbor freight 1 x30" grinder. It wasn't if I could make one for it but would it work or would the customer be wasting his money. After emailing back and forth I desided to go ahead and make it. I went to HF to get some measurements and see how it was put together. They had them on sale for $39.95 so I brought one home with me.
After assembling the work rest and platten I gave it a try.

Not only did it work but I was amazed at how well it worked.
Now I'm not advocating that everyone should run out to HF and buy one but for someone limited on funds or space I was truly amazed.

Attached are a few photos of the setup a blade I did on it with my 18" rest non magnetic platten and Angle Pro jig.

Um... Yeah, I'm gonna have to look at your ad.

Looks great, my only problem is that I don't have the table. Also, mine is a Delta, but I think it's pretty close to the HF with a slightly better platen.

looks great I have the sander already. need your angle pro tho. im having trouble getting a perfect bevel.

When htony1 ordered one I was a little reluctant to make him one . Thinking that it doesn't make since to put a $150.00 jig set up on a $39.00 grinder, but considering it could later be used on a better grinder I decided to try it out.
I have even thought of some situations where it would really come in handy to have a small light weight grinder.sure it has limitations, and it may not last long but what the heck it was only forty bucks and yes you can make a knife on it.
