Harbor Freight sells cheap machete which they still claim to me stainless. I am thinking about buying 3 of them to convert into straight blades to a DIY cabbage shredder. The whole thing is sold for $6 so the metal should be very cheap. Does somebody knows what steel could it be and would I be able to sharpen it? Cabbage is very soft medium so I guess I should not worry too much about the blade holding its edge if I would be able to sharpen initially? I think I should be able to cut the blade to rectangular with an angle grinder?
