Alright guys the moment i've been waiting for.... too bad its late night before i got home from work, though i did consider pulling an all nighter in the shop ;) :D so come on guys give me suggestion on bandsaw blades. Insanity was it you that had said there should always be 3(is this the right number?) teeth in contact with the steel your cutting at all time? that would explain the TPI (teeth per inch) i also have my big order coming from pop's supply in a day or two! man i'm excited!

Grasshoppa,

Your shop is probably starting to fill up with your tool collection. That's a good thing. :D

It sure is less wear and tear on mine. :D :D ;)

Larry: i'm already running out of room!
Higgy: Thanks for the info i'll give it a try, any specific places to order from with good prices?
IG: but there's still gonna be plenty of $hit coming your way dont you worry! how could i get by without bugging my teacher!?

I've been using Lennox 14 or 18 TPI that I purchased from TKS. The first one lasted about a year but I was amazed how much faster the new one cut when I finally switched to it. I won't wait so long to change it out next time. :D The cost was roughly $30.

Just be sure you buy a high quality bimetal blade and you'll be good. For too long I bought $10 blades from Home Depot and they'd last about a weekend...

Last time I bought a new blade for it was out of MSC I think. Also do a Google search for "4x6 bandsaw". Some good tips and advice for fine tuning that saw at those first couple urls you run into there.

Don't forget to check local shops too, may not have best price, but good to know ahead of time if they have what you need when you absoulutely have to get a job done and need a new bnlade. I know we have a wholesale tool shop just a block or so from my apartment that has good blades(among a ton of other stuff)

I neglected to mention, that saw is going to prove to be one of the best tools you ever bought! You'll do stuff now you would never have considered before. :D

Its probably worth getting a wood blade aswell if you are going to cut a lot of wood the fine teath seam to clog up a bit on mine when cutting wood with the metal blade.

I agree with the other guys I get bi metal blades they last much better.

i used the blade that came with it for about 2 minutes when i got about 1 1/2 inches into a piece of 1/4" thick 440c it was totally ruined.... put on the new starret 14TPI bimetal blade..... cut through the rest like butter!

thanks... you should really get one... its easier than a hacksaw.... and less dangerous than using your old bolt cutters on 5/32 stock, not that i would try such a thing.......

Yeah, I think I'm going to stop by and pick one up today. Tired of wasting steel on my grinder (I haven't used a hacksaw in awhile :D )

mine was way worth the money......

I made a wood stand for mine and got a wood blade as well...

Be sure to trash the blade that came with it. I acidently put that one on and I was like......what! My saw sucks!

Then I changed the blade ;)

I also made a gigger table that is small enough to allow the saw to horizontal cut as well.....

Yeah, the legs sorta suck on it. BTW -- for those of you thinking about getting one, I picked mine up on sale last night for $149.
