I recently bought the HF version of a portaband and it seemed like i remembered somebody (Dan Gray?) giving a description of how he mounted his vertically like a stationary bandsaw instead of a portaband. i looked back in time and found the thread but the pics wouldn't load. would whoever it was mind re-posting those pics? also if anybody else has any ideas please feel free to share em... thanks
Alex

Alex, I posted a HF portaband mounting picture somtime back.
Unfortunately the computer containing the pic lost it's powersupply yesterday. It should be back up in a few days and I will post it then.
Sorry bout that.

milwaukee tools sells them. i couldnt find a good pic but if you google it you might find something

Cooter, thanks much, no rush.

dstutts, thanks for the lead. i'll check that out.

fitzo, you're right, quite spiffy.
Thanks.

An even simpler way to mount it is to remove the upper grip. Use the grip to layout holes onto a piece of flat stock. Use the mounting screws that held the upper grip to hold the flat stock on. Put the other end of the flat stock in a vise and there you go. When I get around to it I'll add a table to it but for what I'm wanting it works just fine. I just cut another 2' worth of saw steel with it on the blade that came with it not to count all the other steel thats been cut with it.

oops, I shoulda said upper handle. Other end has the motor. Sorry. Thanks, Ray!

Alex,
sorry it took so long to get the pic posted. Puter is now fixed.
I made a "sandwich" type clamp from 1/2" plywood and a 1/2" carriage bolt/wing nut combo for tightening the fixture to the saw. I left clearance to access the switch. The work table was made from 1/4" mild steel plate with a piece of angle iron welded to the bottom. It replaces the guide finger on the saw using the same screws. The clamp can be easily removed to use the saw as a"portaband".

I mounted mine to a piece of 2x6 a little longer than the saw with 2 dryer vent clamps. Put the extended lower end of the 2x6 in a vise and away you go. I added a 6 inch square table to the saw also.
Take Care
TJ
