Some before/after pics of a HG55 I broke (I was being stupid with it)

That looks really good! How much blade length would you estimate was lost? Looks like it was very little.. like an 1/8th or something.

Actually had a few minutes so just looked at them, its actually shorter than I thought now comparing them lol
Even just a bit shorter than the Urban Grudge.

Its about 3/8" shorter than my other HG-55.

Sure is! Not necessarily a bad thing though imo. It is thinner than your garden variety HG55 so it'll probably take a screaming edge now.

Mine is one of the MO models. That thing is thicker behind the edge than most tomahawks! I can still get it hair popping but my god is it a beefy sob. You could probably pry a manhole open with mine.

My HG55 and the MT-1 tomahawk I paired it with.

My HG55 behind the edge. Kinda fuzzy but my camera sucks.. hard to get a pic of it.

The tomahawk behind the edge. Also kinda garbage but I think that's as clear as this phone gets unfortunately.

Am I the only one seeing the coarse grain structure? Thats not right!

I definitely had that thought but the picture is rather dark looking where the break was so it's sort of difficult to be sure. To be fair I am surprised when I see a broken tip as most Busse blades of years past have sufficiently thick tips that I assumed they were largely unbreakable short of extreme foolishness and persistence/determination. Having a coarse grain structure would certainly help to understand why it may have broken but I do not want to assume that caused the failure.

Ja that heat treat is f$%&ed

Cool end result. The shop is conscientious upholding their open ended warranty (thinking specifically about Cliff Stamp's Basic 7, for those who remember).

Allow me to ask: "What did you do to snap off the tip in the first place?" Enquiring minds want to know. 😉

yeah I wondered about the heat treat but figure they would let me know if it was damaged beyond repair (I bought it second hand already stripped), I dunno. They did take off a decent bit of the steel overall, much thinner overall.

It was a bit thinner than others (Aries HG55 is a good bit thicker at the tip than this one was). Wasn't thinking, stabbed in a tree stump and got twisted a bit much.

Yeah not much at all.
Seemed they kept as much as possible, pretty much only lost the little bit of tip that was already gone, maybe just a hair past it. So yeah 1/8th is a pretty good guess.
I’ve got another HG55 that’s mint and an old OG Urban Grudge I’ll try to compare it to tonight/tomorrow

So it's an HG 5 now ? ;)

Twisting in a stump shouldn't do that sort of damage in my experience...mof, Busse & Kin excel at such exercises with vigor and panache.

At any rate, good on the Co. for making good on their unmatched W&R.
