I'm looking to pick up one of the HG55 Double Cuts from the Blade West 2009 show and wanted some opinions on it (fit, feel, finish, cost, likes, dislikes etc). This will be my first Busse, so let me know what you guys think. Thanks!

I can't say anything bad about mine, in fact I have fallen in love with it.

The balance is right where it should be, handles fit perfect, jimping is big and deep so it works well with or without a glove, finish is sweet, and over all it's just sexy looking to me.

Mine will be my deer dressing camp knife this season, fits size wise with a Schrade Golden Spike, Buck 119 area. I can't wait to put it to work.

I hope you get one it's a great all purpose design.:thumbup:

Good luck and welcome to madness :)

*I didn't see any dbl cut down there, mine is satin :)

I like mine too!

I think the DC fininsh is the best - wear, looks etc - but I also have a LE satin finish one and its pretty cool too.

But the function is excellent. In the kitchen, or field she more than covers the bases.

Ok - I like this one a lot :)

I love mine. So much so, that when I got home from BLADE, I called Busse to see if they had any spares left over and bought another! :) Fit/Finish is  Good lookin', and should make for a hard workin' knife that'll never let ya down. If you want pix, lemme know!

there wasn't really that many around, I didn't end up getting one of the double cut ones I had the HG55 Satin Finished, Full Flat Grind, Black Paper Micarta and that was awesome!

And I am starting to think this one is a sleeper. Again great feel in the hand- great balance. I prefer the non corrugated DC and Satins :D:thumbup:

I only have the LE... curious how the full flat HG55s from Blade feel compared to the saber ground, convexed LEs.

Anybody have both that can give me an idea??

cough, cough... Jaxx... cough, cough... :D

Here's a couple more pics of mine - the satin seems just a bit heaver and looks slightly thicker. And the thumb cuts are longer :)

Well, both are great! :D
But seriously, when I saw your post, I pulled them out for comparison...

The LE's have 10 notches on each side of the thumb rest, the D/C ones have 6... but the full height grind of the D/C version still took off more weight and so it is a bit lighter than the LE and balances about a quarter inch or so further back on the handle than the LE does; making it feel considerably lighter in the hand... More so than the weight difference probably really is.

now i will have to dig mine out and look at it, i know that it has the black paper handles and it seems like it has the 6 thumb slots

Great pix TurnerIII :cool::thumbup:

Inspired I snapped a few pix of my precious.
