HG55 with Light Brigade treatment?

Everybody,

One of the knive I have always shamefully coveted is the HG55. There is something about the lines that appeal to me.

One of the comments I have heard repetively, is that the blade is a bit too thick for an EDC. Granted it is designed as a fighting knife,(that is what I understand from reading on this forum) so thickness is a good thing in this case.

Since seeing the cross section of the original Team Gemini compared to the new Light Brigade model, I have been wondering if the HG55 could benefit
from the same geometry.

Would the HG55 also benefit from the Light Brigade treatment under the scales?

The more I think of it, the more I sort of wonder?

Does anybody have any comments? AM I trying to improve something that ain't broke?

I think they all should be available with the LB treatment. I'd LOVE to see the Swamp make the LB treatment an option.

HG55 is one of the models I've never warmed up to. LB treatment applied to a Steel Heart? Yeah, I can get on board.

HG55 has a sleek profile and it's only .25 so i can't see how it would benefit from lb treatment on the handles.

I love the HG55. If we could see it with a .18-.20" stock I think it would be fantastic!

The purpose of the light brigade treatment is to dampen vibration under heavy chopping.

I don't have an HG55 but I do have an urban grudge and I think it is fine the way it is. If i wanted to lighten it, I think SLUT treatment would remove more weight without any performance loss.

I think the others are correct, the LB treatment wouldn't change much, but making it 1/8-3/16" thick would.

And an 8th of an inch seems a little too thin..3/16ths seems much more appropriate. For the given use..just my opinion though.

I don't do LB at all!!! I got into Busse's cause they where solid in construction. I want own a Fehrman for that reason. I like the steel and like there outward design, just can't deal with a LB or skeletonized tangs. I will say I have a skeletonized GW, and a KEY but that's it.

You guys are probably right...no sense trying to re-invent the wheel?

There is a thread going around regarding 3SV steel being possibly better in some ways than INFI.

Mr. Busse entered the conversation, he was able to explain in detail all of the factors and reasons, backed-up with expeireince and testing, why INFI was superior.

My guess is he could do the same with all of the different designs, handle materials, blade treaments, etc, that make a BUSSE knife what it is.

And I would also bet that he could do so in this case.

Mostly I was just day dreaming. I will try to keep a lid on it in the future.

Thanks for all your input!

And thanks for not FLAMING me out for being a knucklehead!

Shane,

You are not a knucklehead Bro, far from it. Just voicing your opinion and that is what we are all about. Luckily Jerry and the crew knock out a lot of knives with different designs and styles that feed the masses quit well.

Knucklehead, I think not Bro!!! It's all good.

Thanks Russ,

Hanging around with so many seriously knowledgeable BUSSE folks makes asking questions a wobbly proposition. It is hard not to suddenly slap your self in the forehead for making an OOPS!

Especially since so many questions have been asked before.

Thanks agai for everybodys opinion.
