It seems weird to me that there aren't more current threads talking about the HG55.

Is the HG55 so loved that the folks that own one are keeping it quiet?

I saw the very lovely HG being offered in the next GANZA....

This model in almost any of its configurations is rarely for sale?!?!?

SO what's the deal?

Going by the principal that BEING BIG is a virtue, what about ....

making a longer/wider version of this wicked knife?

If these specs are close, what about a bigger badder version?

Blade - 5.51"
Thickness - 5/16th inches

How about a blade length of 8 inches with a spine thickness of 5/16"?

I think given the sleek lines of the original, that the increased size will break hearts all over BUSSELAND.

Given the dimensions of the bigger version, the distal taper would not have to begin until the clip starts. The thicker spine would allow for a very strong
tip section.

Is this a goofy idea or has it already been done?

Not a lot of HG55 love around here. It has the one of hte best Busse handles I've ever held, yet I look at it and think, "what the heck am I gonna do with this?"

They tend to go for below MSRP, shockingly.

I really like the HG-55! I picked my first up just recently and its a wicked mid sized bowie. I would consider it a utility knife, although it is on the longer side. Excellent knife regardless IMHO.

I owned 2 and completely agree with Dennis - great handle and cool looking blade, but I just never had a need for the blade/fighter design - I would always grab something else.

Now if they released a anorexic HG55... could be a monster slicer...

I agree. I had a limited edition that I sold only for financial reasons. It was a very useful size though. I'd love to see an anorexic. It seems there are several sized Busse that should have been made thinner, to really get the most use out of them.

It does seem to be a knife that doesn't get a lot of mention around here.

If Jerry was making a steak knife- id think it would look like the HG55. With that being said-id buy a butter knife from Busse. That #37 for the upcoming Ganza is sick though- is that really a HG55 type varient or something- or a brand new knife? Anyone...Buehler...Buehler? lol. Thx guys. Have a gr8 day.

Other than the scales, I don't think there is anything different from the original LE. The belly looks a bit deeper, but I think that's just from the photo angle. That looks pretty much like what my LE looks like.

HG55 is a "fighter" a.k.a. "zombie killer". I want one. You ask, "What am I going to do with this kind of knife??" what a silly question. Just wait until 2012 and a zombie shows up at your hideout. If you have, say, a KaBar and you stab the zombie in the head, the KaBar will simply melt from the acidic blood of the zombie. If you an HG55 made of INFI steel, you will EASILY slice and dice as many zombies as you like. there you go.

That is an excellent post.

thank you Greaves but I am just a humble messanger- the big HOGS will back up my post for sure

5.5 inches is not enough for Zombies.. :)

I have love for the HG. Great looking knife. But i do think it should be skinny. It would make a great skinning knife then, But still dose anyway.

You know,, I had some trepidation starting a goofy thread like this...

But now...

It was worth it...

Just to see such a cool pic of AMY!

Wicked!
