I've been offered a big bowie supposedly made by Buck. It's in a wood case with blue lining. Marked on the blade in gold is a street scene and a banner that reads H H Buck. Anybody know what this is?

It was made by Buck Knives... It's a 903 Bowie... Pictures would help ...

They made 110s with the Gold etching of HH Black Smith Shop on the Blade too...

The 903 Bowie with the image of the Buck blacksmith shop was issued in 1988 with a quantity of 1,500. They are serial numbered. That is a large number so they turn up regularly. There were also 1,500 Buck 110's with the same matching image done at that time. They make a nice pair. The original etchings were done by Aurum. In 2002 the model 110 was reissued with a run of 1,282. The knife shown by ITE above is the later 2002 version. I have the Bowie and both 110 versions in my collection. I've looked and can't believe I don't have a picture of them. If no one else posts a picture I'll take one tonight and post it. My bowie is also in a wood case with blue lining. It is a beautiful knife.

The 903 is one big Buck knife and gold etching is icing on the cake!

I have a few of these large bowies, here is a few photo's of the one in question.

Maybe because he was working?

Thanks to all who answered. That is in fact the knife in question. Not sure what I'm going to do with this as it's not in my normal "collection".

Remember the days when if you wanted to contact someone you wrote a letter and put it in a box in front of your house?
Someone would come to your house the next day and that letter would begin a journey of many days...
The electronic age sure has changed expectations...... :D

My 110 was made in 2011 for the Oregon knife show... There was only 5 made of these...
Oregon (Steve) gave this beautiful Buck 110 to me... Steve, thank again... I love it...

Boy, you sure slipped that one by me.
Does it use the blades from 2002 in a Chairman frame?
Now I'm really anxious to find mine so I can compare.

That's what I was thinking... Joe Houser made them for the show...
I don't think I have the other one from 2002... I hope you do... :)

Here's the other 110 I have with the Banner on the other side of the shop...

The Bowie has it on the opposite side (banner)...

110 HH Buck Shop...
