Before anything else, I had to pay twice for the thing!

When my wife brought my coffee in at noon (Best advice I ever got was, "Marry a woman with dirty feet and who can make good coffee"). Worked for better than 30 yrs.

Anyway, she says, "I'll trade you a package from Idaho for a 12 pack and some smokes. She goes barefoot a lot, but ain't dumb. LOL

Of course I agreed and got coffee and a HH in bed.

Handled it for a bit and saw the first problem, or rather felt it. The 'agressive' grooving up near the first fastener, where your thumb would go comes to points in a couple of locations. Looks like just a random result of the grooving and the placement of the fastener holes.

Not a big deal, but I put off my side by side testing of a smooth micarta contured grip SHSH till I could get some 220 or so grit sandpaper and knock these points down a bit.

Nice thing with the Mag grips, you have plenty of material to work with.

This thing is WAY more blade heavy than my SHSH's. Closer to the SHBM in feel. Totally different animal.

I'll probably start out with the tuff stuff, the banana trees! Then work my way around to the palms. The Avacado tree gets a bow saw+shears. Ya just don't go whanging on a prize fruit tree.

Haven't had the problem. I've used an HOFSH for chopping, at times until my arm was so tired I couldn't do it anymore, but never had an issue with the handle (mag). Guess it just sits differently in my hand. The mag handles could use a little more contour on those square edges though.

I go with the cheap Home Depot/Walmart/Lowes/Target/ETC..... leather work gloves. Makes it almost one size fits all. Use the same gloves for spearfishing. They ain't pretty, but they work better then anything else at 8 times the price.

:o So far I've not felt any hot-spots on mine. I've done a max of only 6-8 minutes of chopping but I've had other blades that I felt the problem waaaaaay earlier than that.

Gratuitous pic from overnight camping... sorry, not an action pic. :o

It's no biggie, just a high spot to knock down. Looks like it just turned out that way because the grooving and the fastener hole just made a point.

Won't be the first time I've used sandpaper to make a handle conform to MY hand, rather than the other way around.

Not a complaint by any means, just an observation.

Congratulations Rob.
I have the HOFSH but really haven’t gotten around to using it yet.
Ian.
