Just because. Most like coatings but I prefer bare steel. I wondered what my HH would look like naked, so......remove the crinkle! Maybe later modify/replace scales and finish off the steel.
Anyway, for those interested, here's what a naked HH looks like next to it's special sibling (that ultra rare an desireable NASA Model :D )!!

I actually like the look and may leave it this way.

Wow! That is beautiful! You can see the lines, texture of the steel. And it makes the blade appear larger. Good job! You hafta let us know if she chops better without her coating!! Ya know, without the drag, if any. Or if there is no marked improvement. Nicely done.

I just used plain old Klean-Strip KS-3 Premium stripper from Home Depot. Didn't think it would work but I was wrong. Did 2 coats, each sat for about 40 minutes. Then hand wire brushed. That's it. Easy.

I don't know if it will chop better, but the finish won't wear off now! :D

Thanks, I gotta try this soon. The finish on my HH is finally thinning enough to consider taking it off.

that bare INFI looks really sweet

would look really SUPER AWSOME if you had some Snake Skin scales on it now:eek:

Snakesin......Yeh, that would look great!

The bare metal (not the ground part of the blade) is in the white and close up it's a little dimply and bumpy but it has a raw industrial feel and look I sort of like. Like it belongs that way.

Nice, nekid infi! Why dont you clean the steel parts around the handle, pommel etc.?

Ok, im gonna start counting those nasa models, you got 1 mag handled HH nasa, i got 1 too. I read somewhere that the magic number is 12 nasa HH?
How many of them are there with mag's?

Pommel is stripped, just looks dark in the pic. Getting on the handle today. The naked HH has Std scales and the black NASA :D model has Mag scales. Can't hardly see the diff in the pics.

Here's a better closeup of the surface. May be a bit more crude than most of y'all want. But works for me.

Awesome job man! I love the dimpled look. I'm wondering if this was the reason for dropping the logo lower for this model.

I'm no expert but I'm guessing most INFI looks like this in-the-white before it's dressed down to a finer finish.

FYI - My Mitutoyo says this really measures .260 in-the-white, without the black crinkle. So, unless my mic is off, that coating must make for the final .270 inch claim. That must be why there is less than 1/2 oz difference between the HH and the STD (.250) FSH.
