Had the evening off and decided the HHFSH had gotten lazy looking all pretty in its cardboard sheath.
Caught this 3" sapling looking at me funny and decided to let her have it. All told, the tree took about 50 chops or so. In my fervor I forgot to take any action pics but here is the aftermath.
The upper 20' section of the tree caught on an adjacent oak and became perfectly braced for further dissection
About 20 swings deep.
Once freed, I planted the 4' or so section of the tree in the ground and set to batoning with an old piece of lumber found nearby. The ease with which this was accomplished was amazing.
Total time: about 10 minutes
Back home, I did a more thorough inspection of the edge and found that it still shaved (rather roughly) and had zero damage. The coating took a beating but I'm proud of it.
All in all, I am extremely pleased with this knife's first foray. It is an incredibly comfortable chopper and absolutely melted through when batoned. As for INFI edge retention, I have never experienced such toughness. What a blade!
