Firstly this post by no means is saying that HHT is important of a knife you carry everyday. I am just curious to know if any of you guys carry around EDCs that passed the 'Hanging Hair Test' ?

I don't... I like toothier, 1k grit diamond edge best for edc. I don't like how the mirrored edge slips and doesn't feel like it has much bite, although I hear if you measure the amount of force used to cut a given object the force required with a mirror edge will decrease slightly. I have to experiment myself!

The edge I am talking about is tree topping but yet will bite very deep on a slicing cut.

Only thing I get to that level is straight razors.

Some of my EDCs have been sharpened to where they would pass a HHT, but the highest I go for everyday is to where it starts out at treetopping some thicker leg hair. As long as it is three finger sticky and can shave arm hair, I don't bother touching it back up.

Not me. I like toothy edges that have a lot of bite. I cut mostly synthetic industrial materials and some paper bags. Not interested in putting the time into highly refined edges. I can make confetti out of phone book pages. That's good enough for me.

I like to get mine where they will whittle a hair. It isn't a requirement that they do, it's just a plus when it happens. I keep an old seatbelt type strap hanging on a rack in our warehouse with green compound on it for touch ups on the to so it isn't a big deal to keep my knife studied sharp during the day. When stropping g won't bring it back, a couple swipes on the sharpmaker or DMT extra fine gets it right back to work
