Hello guys,
I've written a comprehensive review of a 16.5" Chiruwa Ang Khola. Beware that it is pic intensive and not yet proofread. For those of you who already own something from HI, there are no surprises, but if you are on the edge or thinking about buying, you may find this very useful. Below are a few samples of the photos you can expect. You can check it out here: http://funditor.110mb.com/Chiruwa Ang Khola Khukuri Review.html

That's about the best khurk review I've read. Nice job Cando:thumbup:

Great review! The tasks, the limitations, the points of excellence, and the use of two systems of measurements for the international readers was great. Inspiring, too. Have a feeling I'm not the only erstwhile khuk user who read your review thinking "I want to do that!"

Any plans to try a Sirupati-style khukuri?

Seriously, though, good question. Cold Steel tends to use a thinner grind, higher carbon steel, and more springy handle material, so the results should be different in a few ways.

great review. I own seval Hi's now due to the things that you showed in your findings. For the price they are very hard to beat as an all around outdoor tool and being a big knife fan they fit me very well. The only thing I dont like sometimes is the handle...but with some sandpaper and elbow greese that is easily solved as well.

Very good review, and good reading as well.
Just a question, you make a distinction between Gorkha's and Gurkha's, aren't they the same thing ?

I also own a kukri, not by HI by the way, and on the blade is the word Gorkha.
It is a useful blade, but nowhere near as beautiful as the one you have.
:)

The way I understand it, Ghorka is a more general term, whereas Ghurka is the Anglicized version applying especially to (British) military units.
