I want to buy these blades so i was wondering if anybody has any experience with these blades ? Ill be using it for bottle cutting and maybe some yard work do these blades come pretty sharp out of the box? Do they cut well ? Opinions thoughts anyone ?

I don't have any experience with the KH or with bottle cutting, but the 20" Siru is going to be pretty dang sharp and will cut as well as you would think 16" of steel whipping through the air would;)

I've seen you tube videos of guys cutting bottles and i thought it looked fun but i think id rather cut small tree limbs. And get some exercise at the same time any way thank you for your input steely gunz

I feel kind of dumb, I don't know what the heck a KH is. I do know that the Sirupati's I've heard about were wicked sharp.

Auntie generally uses the term scary sharp or field sharp in here DOD post. I don't know exactly what field sharp means but the 2 knifes I got described as scary sharp were exactly that. I went back and read Uncle Bills thread on handling these things and adhere to his advise to the letter. I need all my digits and blood.

I've cut bottles and soda cans with my 20" Sirupati, my 15" Sirupati and my 16.5" WWII. The 20" Sirupati is the best at slicing bottles and cans.

I'd go with the 20" Sirupate.

I bought a KHHI Max and then gifted it away. It was so crude compared to my HI knives. It was extremely dull, had a very blunted tip, poor balance like it was just a crudely fashioned thick slab of metal.

Sirus are my favorite khukuris. The aren't the heavy choppers some others are but nothing feels better in the hand to me. And they will definitely do what you have in mind my 20s are my favorite.

For yard work, trail clearing, brush, light chopping, and food prep, the Sirupati's are great. Heavy chopping and splitting is where I grab for a WWII, AK or other stouter Khukri. My 20" Sirupati frequently joins me on trips into the woods. Mainly for trail clearing. 20" Khukri gives me good reach and the Sirupati's are also fast and light. . . . I live in a very rural Farming/Ranching area. Clearing brush from bitch banks, fence lines, road ways and the like, is common around here. A Sirupati really shines at that stuff. Back in College, I used to use my 20" Sirupati to help a neighbor rid his fields of Thistle. Hacking Thistles with a Sirupati is a ton of fun!

Yangdu posted an 18" Gelbu Special the other day, that looked perfect for brush and light duty use. The GS was only 20oz iirc.

Here's my you tube video on Kukris and yes....the 15 inch Victor is in it so if you question how sharp it is, just watch the video where I shave the hair off my leg with the Victor. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o78ClNiOUY8

I own four KH kukri's. There's two Extremes with 11 inch blades and one custom which is basically a glorified Xtreme with a 13 inch blade. I also own two HI kukris, an M-43 with a 13 inch blade and a World War II model with an 11 inch blade. These are gorgeous weapons and yes, I'd say the fit and finish is superior to my KH kukri's. However.....comparing mine to each other is unfair. First off, the HI come with polished blades whereas the kukri's I got from KH have the equivalent of the villager finishes I"d think. According to what I've read over at KH, the better WWII models come with highly polished blades and so does the American Eagle model which is basically an Extreme with a 10 inch instead of an 11 inch blade. There are a couple of other models that are higher priced which no doubt have much better finishes. Also....all four of my KH kukri's have special handles that are extremely comfortable. The smaller three have the Extreme or American Eagle type of grip which I believe is about as good as it gets. The Victor has an even longer handle with finger grooves so it's no slouch either.

Also for some reason the Victor is the sharpest out of all my kukri's. I would not say the M-43 is all that sharp as it came to me. The WW II model definitely had the sharper edge. I've touched up the M-43 and also touched up all the KH kukri's but the Victor needed the least amount of post delivery sharpening of the entire bunch. I do feel that in general both companies could have done a better job of sharpening them before delivering them to me. I'm not saying they were all that bad, but when you compare them to the Roman gladius I got from Mark Morrow, they're just not as a sharp. Mark's gladius is like a razor from the tip to the stern. But of course I paid Mark a lot of money for that gladius. Back to the kuki's however. My KH kukris will not win any beauty contests as I have now duracoated all four of them in a matte black color to protect them from the tropical humidity here in Thailand. I am using Renaissance wax, oil, etc to protect the HI kukris which are very beautiful

I found one video of a guy using the 15 victor check it out and heres one for the 20 sirupati

Well folks.... as this is turning into an HI vs. KH thread. Off to the Cantina it goes.....hol' on ta yer hats.

Please act quickly and remove it from my temptations. It wants to come live with me too.

I just sent and received a response from Auntie. It's still available. I'm good till day after tomorrow. If I bought it now I'd have a guilt complex and end up on the floor in a fetal position sucking my thumb. Just don't want to have that happen ya know.

Tell the woman I said it's ok. Better yet, tell her Karda said it's ok. Safer for me. Sorry Karda, survival of the sneakiest ya know?

timetraveler11, I sent you a visitor message I think. I hope I did anyhow. Still haven't got things totally figured out here yet.

Much much braver than I, I can see that right off.

At those kind of blade lengths, I think that the sirupates are more practical. Their lighter weight means that you can actually make use of the length to get great tip speed, where the victor has an insane amount of power but can't really make use of the length that well. However the KHHI victor definitely has the aesthetic factors to take into account.
