It's quite literally been years since I've dropped in. Just wanted to say 'hi' to everyone (pun partially intended) - so many new names that are, in fact, now old names :p

To put it in context, I bought my first khuk from Uncle Bill directly and had to find the rememberances thread to figure out what happened to Yvsa and DannyInJapan (who started here about the same time as I did). Sad to see...

Life's been busy for most of the last decade. Hopefully in the next few months things can settle a bit - looking forward to working with my khuks. I'll post some pics of my collection of DOTDs soon - some of the kami signatures may be interesting to some (including one of Kumar's first khuks...)

In any event, nice to meet you - I feel like a noob again.

welcome back and I hope you pick up a few keepers from the new kami, they are turning out some amazing stuff-- I bought my first khuk through my brother and uncle bill some time in 1999-- and did not join forums until 2012 ( or maybe 13) so what is old is new again :D

HIKV is incurable. You can supress the symptoms, but eventually you relapse :)

I'm in process of purchasing a property near a farm where I grew up. I'll be moving away from the city soon (after 24 years of city slicker life) and starting to farm again with some permaculture techniques. Starting to think of all of the nice scythe-like tools that the kamis would come up with from time to time, which made me think of popping back over here. Now I'm already scouting for deals...

It's the itching that's the first sign of HIKV. The last sign is a lighter wallet :)

Welcome back Ripn! Great to have an oldtimer back again. Love to hear your stories and see your collection. Happy sharkin!

Now kamidog, where's you manners. RipnTear might be a nice young feller that found HI when he was just a yonker. Course he could be older than dirt (about my age) or a little younger than Bookie too. Haven't read his biography yet.

I too am aching for a look see at some of them earlier blades. Probably make me plumb jealous like many of the others we've seen in the past.

Says hes "81" right there under his join date! Hes pretty young compared to us fossils.

Haha. Well, I suppose old to some is young to others. I bought my first blade over a decade ago now when I was just in my early 30s...

I'll put together a pic later today or tomorrow - I'm kinda playing hookey with work at the moment, so I should probably do the right thing and get some work done. My first buy was a Bura WWII. From there I was hooked.

BTW, I'm in C. Texas myself...

Decade ago in his early 30's, a decade is about 10 years giver er take so tops we're talking 42-45?

Darn babe barely removed from his momma's feeding apparatus. And Ndog had the audacity to call ya Old Timer?

I'm going down for this I just know it. And it burns burns burns, that ring of fire.

Welcome back RipnTear! Congrats on surviving HIKV so long without an infusion. I don't think I would make it. And you are definately correct on the lighter wallet, that hasn't changed at all. So many beautiful ways to empty it LOL. Unfortunately not many Bura's floating around anymore. People who have them seem to hold onto them. But the forms the new Kamis are going towards are very interesting in themselves. I am sure you will find something to tempt you soon :D

Khul! I was playing hookie today first half of the day too. They closed schools and offices etc because of the ice storm expected. You people up north would laugh if I told you the town shut down because it was expected to get down to 29 degrees F:D

Ain't that the truth. So much for ice, rain, snow and winter weather! We got wind and a light freeze, lol.

Welcome back, love it when older users get back in touch. Great deal of kukri wisdom we can all benefit from. Besides being top chaps, like everyone around here.

You Texans would wither and die up here in central NY. Daytime high has regularly been 29 degrees. Yesterday was 15 degrees with light wind and when I went to bed last night it was -02 degrees. Coldest night so far here was -19 degrees.

BTW, welcome home RipNTear. Good to see some old timers popping back in.

Dang?! I remember NY, I went there to visit once, during Christmas, New Years, and I nearly froze to death walking around the corner to the bar! I literally had to sit at the bar for like 5 - 10 minutes to allow my nose and ears to thaw out. I was deaf for like the first 5 minutes. Jeez...I had never felt that kind of cold before!!!!

You aint lying man! My wife lived in New Hampshire before we married and says she will never live that again. She likes the White mountains and always talks about the Kangamangus (SP?-sounds like a dangerous animal) Highway. -19 dang Karda! Brrrrrrr! Forget that!
