Hello, my name is Eric. SkagSig40 invited me to join you guys here in HI forums despite the fact that i own a GH Khukuris....very nice of you Chris, thanks!
I own a Model 1 military issue Khukuri brought back by a friend from his tour in Nepal, i must say...i'm impressed. I've been a knife collector for about 4 years now and have the opportunity to own many production and custom pieces since then but never own a Khukuri due to the fact that there's many fake ones circulating in this region. The quality is poor and to the extent; toy like!....hence i have bad impression of them and never thought of owning one.(well, i have one made locally but that is another story...) Recently, a countryman(also a forumite, better known as Redvenom) showed me two of his Khukuris...can't remember where it's from...either GH or HI...can't remember. Anyways, after seeing them...my perception changed. I wanted to purchace some but seeing what Redvenom had to go through to obtain them left a bitter taste to it all. Recently, i was lucky enough to have one given to me as a gift...GOOD STUFF i must say! The model 1 is not in presentation finish(high polished blade) but it was good enough for me as a working piece. The spine is SO thick it'll peel car doors off like paper...hehehe, sorry folks...i've never encounter anything this thick...not even a Strider!
Well...I hope to learn more from you guys!
