I've been around here at Blade Forums for awhile and was a dyed in the wool Schrade USA fan. Since Schrade USA went away in 2004 and having read a bit of history about Buck, my curiosity has been piqued. Buck are all USA made, right? The 192 Vanguard looks quite nice. ;)

howdy. not all Bucks are usa made. they have some imports that come from China. the 192 is usa made. Bucks website tells per model under product specifications, where its made. if it says "imported," currently that means made in China.

The good Buck models are made in the US and you'll be able to tell by the packaging where they were made. There are quite a few China Bucks out there. I think mostly for their price point at Wally World.

Buck contracted with Schrade for the 301 Stockmen & 303 Cadet from about 66-69, and then switched to Camillus after that.
Here is the earliest version of the Schrade 301 as identified by the grooved bolsters.

They do import some knives, but are very open about it. The good thing, is that the models made in USA are all made here. The other models are made elsewhere. On their website, they tell where each knife is manufactured. the 192 is US manufactured.

I need those grooved ones for my slipjoint collection. Haven't found a good one yet. That one looks pretty clean.

As said on the Buck wish list topic I pulled the trigger on this knife from a Buck dealer on Amazon.
