Firstly I would like to say hallo to all members of this community.
Secondly I was reading a lot of Your posts and reviews before I sign in and it helped me a lot while choosing my knives and gave me a lot of knowledge about steels, handles, patterns, etc. so I also would like to thank You for the hard work You all make here.
I own a Case Medium Synthetic Jack (with a modification that turned clippoint blade into a wharncliffe blade - great to whittle and other things) and a Case Medium Trapper (yellow synthetic without any modifications). I also have Spydercos, Rough Riders, Imperial (new version) and (or mostly) Victorinox: Sportsman, Cybertool L, Waiter, Classic and SwissTool X. Somewhere in my drawer is Leatherman Squirt. From some time I also have Gerber Prybrid X.
I write this all to show that I'm not a very fresh member of the knife collecting family but rather a long term user.
As far as I remember I had a knife in my pocket even before it was called EDC. Primarly it was Victorinox but in a time I added more to my drawer and rotate them. As most of us I think.
The American Classics as Case was a bit pricy for me for a very long time (I don't live even near the US) so I was more then happy when I bought my first true American knife - the Medium Synthetic Jack.
It had some small gaps and looked a little worse then RR but it was Case (The Case!) and it became my best friend replacing Victorinox in my pocket.
I did reshape and shorten the main blade because I use it for small EDC things and not to hunt so the modification turned great for me.
It sits in my fifth pocket of my jeans.
While it is a great knife I also used Spydercos as well (especially the DragonFly wannabe Robin 2) and some other blades, but Case was always the case.
After a while I loved (dunno how and why) the Trapper pattern and decided to buy a Case again. Wanted something handy, rather small then big (fifth pocket again) so I chose Mini Trapper.
And it was even more a bulleye than a Medium Jack.
Its size (both closed and opened) is a win - win for me, it is classy, it is almost a jewelry.
But don't get me wrong - I use my knives as tools not hide them in my drawer - so my new friend got bitten the hell out of him in every situation it was needed. Not abused but used.
And after few years I must say that it is my work horse. Some gaps at the back springs and a little off centered main blade (while locked) never bothered me or made me some problems.
The main thing and advantage is that I feel a connection with it. It's my tool but a friend too. As it is in my hand I almost feel the little steel heart beats.
I loved my Victorinox for everything they are as a tools but never had a feeling that it is something more. The only other knife that became my friend is Robin 2 because it was far better while canoeing and one hand opening.
To be honest with You - if there is anything similar to soul in knives - then it is in those classic patterns and craftmanship.
I can only regret that in my european country the prices for Case knives are more than high.

Once again Hallo and Thank You!

I got a quick question about my Medium Jack and Mini Trapper. They are both made with true-sharp steel which doesn't bother me at all but being smaller the Medium Jack seems to be... tougher. Stiffer. More robust. I didn't noticed that till now and I gotta say it surpised me a little. I tried to compare them doing some whittling and MJ cuts like hell and springs keep it all very, very tight while MT cuts great but springs are a bit weaker (noticed that only by rotate MJ and MT at the same time).
Is it because a Mini Trapper is rather collectors knife then MJ? I find it usefull and tough but maybe I'm missing something...
