Hey everyone, snapped a few pics today of my new ASTK and Busse Zilla, wanted to do a little comparison between the two and do a unscientific review...

They are roughly the same length and both have custom fitted handle slabs :Dthe ASTK weighs in at about 29 oz, while the Zilla is around 36-38 oz ( kitchen scale doesn't go that high)

The Zilla maintains the same thickness through the tang while the ASTK tapers quite a bit, and is a bit thicker at the spine than the Zilla

Here's a shot of them stacked, you can see where the Zilla makes up it's extra weight

Here's roughly where the ASTK sweet spot is, ( it extends a little in front of that spot as well) this is just the area where it goes in deepest with the least effort

Here's the Zilla. The Zilla seems to have a larger sweet spot, maybe because it a bit straighter in that area, or just more weight due to increased blade height

Chopping some palm fronds

The ASTK on the first chop didnt go all the way through, this was the thickest part that I chopped though, I will have to try the Zilla on a similar piece tomorrow

Now, I shot of quick video of these two fine blades chopping, but I'm having issues changing formats, so I'll have to edit it and get it uploaded tomorrow

And here's a couple neat pics,( at least I thought so)

And dual wielding? Meh, I need an extra arm for Tri-wielding :p

very pretty zilla :)

soon you will tire of it, and there i will be :D

Nice write up. The rehandle job is gorgeous. How much would something like that cost? Is that walnut?

dunno exact price, the epoxy ,pin stock and wood I had around already, maybe 40 bucks or so, it's redwood burl

do you miss the secondary "hilt" on the stock HI grip? I find it helps a bit.

I didn't care for it, seemed to bite into my hand, especially at the tang, the metal was a bit sharp
