OK, I've been thinking lately (I know, that's dangerous for me, but I like living on the edge).
With the bad dealings going on with BRKT (don't want to start anything here on that, just to say it's influenced my decision making), I've been looking at alternate sources of blades. I was going through my blade collection today.
You know, I discovered, there's nothing I can't do with my HI blades.
My 20" Ak or 24" Giant Chit Bowie can (and have) take down trees, do limbing duty, etc. My R-10 is a good bushcraft blade, and razor sharp despite it's thickness. If I want a big knife, my Kumar Kardas are about the size of a battle mistress. Smaller knife? JKM-1. None are great as real fine slicers, but they'll do any job, including food prep, although they won't make real pretty transparent tomato slices. 'Course, I can throw my SAK in my pocket for that.
Want to "repel borders" the old fashioned way? One word: Tarwar.
With a few HI blades -- at considerably less cost than many other options, I can handle any need.
Note: None of the above should be construed that I won't keep buying other blades.
