i see the knife on the wesite but no place to order, is this knife still available? i would like it to complement my Pen Knife. thanks

rctk1, welcome!

The HI Bolo is really nice. As far as I know it's only 3 have been made in the last few years. We would love to have more made. I'd email Yangdu and ask her if more will be made. If more are not scheduled, maybe she can special order one for you. Good luck!!I love mine.

Welcome rctk1! If you do a search there was a great thread with very harsh testing done by Dave Rishar. He beat at cinderblock to bits with the spine and all. There were pics back then, but they may be gone now. Still it was a long well written review. Look it up.

ps. The only way I've ever gotten the search to work is by doing an advanced search, and holding my breath. Good luck.

Is there a reason this item was not in continued production? I for one would like to have it in my ever growing family of HI products. Think I'll send off an email to Ms. Yangdu.

I'm pretty sure just about anything that has been made, can be made, if the buyer is willing to pay upfront.

I hadn't seen this blade for awhile and had forgotten about it, I'm glad this thread came up, on seeing it again I thought Wow! I sure would like to see more of those. Don't know how it could have skipped my mind. Hope HI makes it a regular part of their lineup, it is really unique. Both the handle and the blade are gorgeous, and the design is different enough that it really does deserve a place among the rest of the great HI blades.

I love Aardvark's comment after the cinder block work:

"Ok, that's enough. The poor thing obviously needs to be sent to someone who appreciates it. Email me for the address."

Dave is one tough tester. I think we all winced a bit at some of the images.

It's still here and still chugging along. It's one solid blade and I hope that we see some more of them. I believe that it does fill a very real need for a "Tarwar Lite", and the lack of a guard makes carrying more comfortable and easier.

I haven't done any testing of this (or anything else, really) in some time now, as the new job is indoors and takes up a lot of my time. The weather is getting nicer, though, and I'm looking forward to some serious camping when my friends decide to ignore the rain, man up and head out. The BWB will be going out into the woods again.

do you think if we take a poll we may have some influence in having them brought back? ;) I for one would be willing to take 2 :)

I believe so from what I've read, being a new guy here I can't say for sure but if we order them HI will make them I'm sure. It's having the patience to wait without being a pest that is the true test.

Yeah, when Dave pounded up a piece of cinder block with his Uncle Bill Memorial Salyan I about fainted! I tested mine by wiping them down with a soft rag and rubbing some Ballistol into the handles before returnning them to the padded safe. They held up very well. ;)
