HI Bowie?

Can you get stock that thick, David?
We're talking a big, honking, heavy, thick knife!

I am sincere about that question, been a while since I checked out knifemaking supplies...steel stock, etc.

Mike could be right. The knife is a half inch thick. I don't know if Gelbu will apply for a patent on this knife or not. Right now it could be copied legally I think -- the only version we have is made out of wood.

If I have a knife like it made, my knife will be inspred by the HI Bowie, not a copy.

I was thinking quarter inch, full flat ground, a little more drop to the front...

I am not desiring to photo-copy it, just use it as a springboard.

And of course, I would share the results with you.

PS, The bells still produce a very pleasnt ring, rather calming actually.

Hi David:

I am not sure if you are going to get the desired performance at 1/4 inch but, sure, go ahead and tell us what happens. It would be very interesting to me and probably to others, too, to see the performance difference of 1/2 inch to 1/4 inch.
