Hi everyone,

So this seems to be my first post here and I'm very happy to be part of this whole forum (of course especially of the ESEE Forum)!
With this said, I want to metion that I was a guest here for a long, long time ... maybe it was to long, because this a great forum!!!
And yeah, sorry for my writing mistakes...I live in Germany...:rolleyes:

Today was a fantastic day and I finally got my package. I ordered two ESEE-4's, one in black and the other one in OD/orange. I got both, because I had no idea which one I would like better. First I played with the thought to get all 3 versions, but the desert tan one was out of stock.
NOW, it's even harder to decide, man there both awesome...hard decision though!!!

JEFF and MIKE...thanks you're knives are really awesome...knives made to be used. It makes me proud to use your knife!:)

So guys I have a small question for you. I really like the visibility of the orange handle, but I can also put a blaze orange lanyard one the black one. Which color would you choose or I know a lot of you out there already have some ESEE Knives, so which one you like better? Apart from that, what do you think about attaching a blaze orange lanyard to the black one?

Welcome aboard - you will find just about every combo here. They are your knives and we all encourage you to personalize it as best you see fit.

Orange goes fine with black, and it can be very helpful finding it if dropped or set down in the woods.

I say swap the scales out and have a orange and black 4 then sell the mut or keep it as a backup.

Depends on the application for me. I like the orange handles (G10) better for skinning game because G10 doesn't absorb like the micarta handles do. I don't like the orange on my person when hunting because it sticks out, though. The OD/Orange looks great, but I am generally not a fan of high visibility. If visibility is the goal you aren't going to get any better than the orange handles. Unless they start making them with tritium inlays. :p

If you dig the orange grips, like shotgunner11 suggested, put the orange handles on which ever blade you like best. win-win
 
JB, from another new member, welcome. I too just purchased my first ESEE last week, & there must be something in the material of the handle or on the blade that gets into your blood because I am having this overwhelming urge to keep ordering more ESEE knives (which I already have). :) Everyone on here seems very friendly & informative about the ESEE knives, & seems to have made every change known to mankind on them. Keep your eyes open, read, read, read & you will definitely increase your knowledge of them. Really a good bunch of people with a common interest. Welcome.

Grats on getting the 4's, one of my first and definitely a favorite!

For a few more colour options you can head over to the-knife-connection.com

Dale has custom colour scales in G-10 for the esee-4, and will soon have them for pretty much the whole line.
 
Willkommen mein Freund! That's great that we have a new member to the forum from Deutchland. Congrats on your 2 new ESEE 4's! I'd swap out the orange handles onto the black blade, it makes for a really sweet looking combination. So what's next on your list to get?!:D Welcome!!!

Welcome! We're geographical neighbours :)

I love the 4, its one of my favorites. At first i didnt care much for the orange but seeing it more and more it grew on me. And now i really love my OD/Orange 4 :)
Give it time and the orange will get to you too.

I also thought about that and in the end here over Germany it would be a bitch to sell a OD ESEE with linen micarta scales and I also don't want a second ESEE-4 as a backup. I will order the Izula or Izula-II, which will be my EDC.
But you're absolutly right, black and orange is perfect.;)

Thanks, the 4 is definitely a fantastic knife...
Yeah the Knife-Connection has got same custom handles, but there're bigger. I think I like the orignial scales/handle of ESEE-4 better.

Thanks for the kind words, man.
As I said above I will send one ESEE-4 back and only keep one, so a scale swap is not possible.

What's next? :D...I've already ordered a ESEE Basic Survial Kit, (the new Wallet Survial Kit) and both, the Izula and Izula-II(both, becasue I want to test which Izula will work better for me). So I'm again excited to get them...;)

Mrs, this is an awesome combo. Unfortunately, I will send one of them back.
I wish I could do that.
Is there a way to get the original orange G-10 scales for the 4. Maybe you have some?;)
 
I don't have any extra scales. Sorry. I actually got the black blade and traded scales w/ someone who had the od and orange scales. Worked out nice for both of us. :)
