My wife told me that I had an "epiphany." I had to go look it up.

So anyways... I stumbled onto this site a couple of weeks ago looking for some better choppers. After reading just about the entire HI section on bladeforums & just about everything on the HI site as well, I became interested in the kamis. And then all things Nepal.

Pleased as punch that buying a khukri from HI helps out the kamis back home in Nepal. But somehow.... that wasn't enough. So I found the Nepalese Youth Opportunity Foundation & signed up to donate $100/ year to free a kid from slavery & sponsor her education. But somehow.... that wasn't enough...

After whining to my wife about not being able to afford to do more, she simply stated that if I really wanted to do more I would find a way. And then I had... an epiphany!

I figured that money goes a lot farther in Nepal than it does here, so saving a little bit here would mean a lot if I sent it to Nepal instead. Then I sat down & added up some ways to save. Five days a week I go to Peet's Coffee & order a large white chocolate mocha, no whipped cream, to go. Thats $4.05 plus a $1 tip twenty times per month. $100 per month for coffee. How far will $100/month go in Nepal? Heckuva lot farther than a cup of coffee, I reckon.

I also spend $50/month on nicotine gum. And $20/month on Dr. Pepper & Canada Dry Ginger Ale. So here's my plan.... give up caffeine & nicotine & soda and transfer $150/month to folks in Nepal who would use the dough for more important things. I can sponsor education for kids. I can donate to the kamis & their families. I can buy khukris from this site & let Yangdu do her thing. Life is good.
