Great collection and picture, thank you

best thing about the Falcata IMO is the sheath!

I think its funny how the Falcata proves the "dark ages were dark" theory of history. How else can you explain the arming sword's impotence when the falcata and kopis were invented first, I mean, the long sword and the rapier were good stabbers, because eurofencing ultimately chose stabbing as its focus, but the arming sword relied on pure bashing and the use of a sheild, I would have much rather had somethign with a nice potent forward curve.

I remember the 2nd one down was a DOTD a ways back, I was sorely tempted to get it, congratulations I see it has a nice home.

Yep yep yep:cool:

All those fancypants moves don't mean anything in the middle of serious battlefield chaos. When you're up close and you need something simple and brutal there's nothing better than a kopis/falcata/khukuri. Back then, I'd take one of those combined with a decent buckler for a combination of speed, agility, and deadly smackdown power.

That being said, ya gotta admire the genius behind the adaptation of the forward curved blade into not just a vicious weapon, but also an excellent survival/wilderness tool... the khukuri.

I still want to see the guys over in BirGorkha make us a good khopesh though.

The genius of the Falcata/Kopis is that it isn't just a good hacker, but has enough point to be a hell of a stabber as well.

What is the fourth down? I think I'm in love ...

CRR is spot on regarding the Giant Chitlangi Bowie ...to my eye it is the most astecially appealing blade I own but it is h-u-g-e: around 24inches overall, 18inches of that is a 1/2inch thick blade that weighs in over 60ounces! :D

Yep, that particular Giant Chitlangi Bowie is 24.25" long, and 63 ounces.

Great for if you are attacked by a Buick.

DANIEL: "Do you think you could chop wood like that?"

MR. MIYAGIi: "Don't know. Miyagi never been attacked by tree."
