Has HI ever done a Gladius? Or a similar with short (16" blade) wide blade.

I'm fairly certain they COULD do one, but... it would be quite heavy and of course not a traditional recreation. For what it's worth, my gladius is just 2lbs 4oz and yet 30" overall with a 21" blade.

EDIT: For those who wonder about such things, the blade is 0.190" thick.

HI has offered the Dukti sword, which has a similar profile as the Gladius. The Dukti sword is lighter than the Tibetan sword and usually features a carved handle and a brass guard. One pretty sword!

The Manjushree sword has a slight resemblance, blade-wise, but more of a Middle-Ages style guard as opposed to ancient Roman. Still cool though. :D

Nice seein' ya around here my Canadian Bacon Homeskillet:p

Auntie also tells me that they can do a custom order. I've got a similarly profiled blade planned here, just need to find some time to draw up some pictures and specs for it. HI has some very talented smiths, so I figure, why not get exactly what you want, made to the quality you want?

What Topgun said; I would do a search for the Dukti sword. It might fit the bill for you. It's closer to the traditional design than the manujushri, although the manjushi has very pretty fullers in addition to the same beautifully carved hande.

And I would also like to add that I've seen some spectacular Dukti swords with engraved blades featuring beautiful artwork e.g. dragon on the blade.
