Hi GEC ..... would you please make this knife for me?

3 5/8 - 3 3/4" long. Jack pattern - both blades opening from the same end, and put the nail nicks both on the mark side so I don't have to flip the knife around to access a different blade. I'd like the main blade to be a clip (swedged & with a long pull) and the secondary to be a sheepsfoot. Your sweet, sweet 1095 of course. And wrap it in some of the blackest ebony you can find. Your Dogleg type frame would be just fine. I'll leave the shield choice up to you, as well as barehead or end capped. If you could bring that in for under a hundred $$ that would be really sweet! Thanks much! :D

Hey guys ..... why not ..... tell a knife company what we'd like to see?

Have they built your perfect knife yet? If so, what is it? If not, what would it be? ;)

That would be a great knife, Keith. I like the Clip and Sheepsfoot idea and also the size.

GEC recently made the knife that I have been longing for. Ever since GEC started making knives, I have wanted them to make a smaller Stockman. With the realease of the Calf Ropers, my dreams have already come true.
In all honesty, the ideal size for me would be 3 5/8 - 3 3/4" but the Calf Ropers are so nice and feel so good and have such great blades that the absence of 1/8" is hardly noticeable.

Of course I will probably long for something else in a few months (you know how it is) but GEC has fullfilled my dreams for the time being.

Keith, you and I are thinking along similar lines.

My perfect GEC pattern would be a 3-7/8" closed, barehead saddlehorn jack with rattailed copperhead bolster to sink the joint and give me a half-guard of sorts. Blades would be swedged and long pull muskrat clip main, with sheepfoot secondary behind the main but nail nick on mark side just peeking out above the clip blade. Hafting would be in burnt grizzly cut bone with UN-X-LD shield.

Then of course I would also need one in gnarly exterior ram's horn, one in popcorn burnt stag, one in rough bark primitive bone, one in snakewood, one in . . .

I'd like to see Queen make that knife Coyote talks about with D2 blades. A 3 3/4" dogleg jack would be just fine.
Greg

Well, of all companies, GEC seems be most prepared to offer new patterns and varied scales-so we might well be lucky.

A Teardrop Harness Jack please, fat broad Spear and awl or a small Sheepfoot (why not have variants?) Barehead, Greenbone, some of their new Garnet Bone, actually most of their scale options are guaranteed good. Under 3.75"

Next?

I'm with you Keith. I like their current jack on the #48 Slimline Trapper frame but your suggestions on this frame are what I'm looking for. I'd like a stainless option as well and would probably go out of my way to pick up one in each handle material offered.

This sounds great too. I think there is a good chance we'll see something like this after they finish making the 2011 forum knife.

A scout pattern would be a sight to see. Not many production versions are out there anymore and I bet GEC would knock it out of the park.

If Queen made that knife they'd have to call it "The Gap".

The quality of knives coming out of Queen these days is terrible. It's too bad.

I love the 53 cuban, would love one similar to a stockman, big clip with a small wharnie and usable pen (drop, zulu..) opposed to the clip with these 2 riding low and a bail!
or a 73 with a clip/drop and wharnie and maybe a pen blade "just in case", the spey is good but a wharnie is better

also a half carbon half stainless one would be nice, with steel bolsters maybe? and micarta/G-10 handles?
so a more usable/modern example rather than traditional pattern even if they already make great usable knives, they also adapt the patterns to their liking so it would be doable IMO

They've not made my perfect knife yet, buy I've really enjoyed trying new patterns from them trying to find what will become my Goldilocks (just right) knife. Speaking of ebony, I've got two from GEC now and neither are near as dark as I'd prefer.

I've got Three that I would LOVE to see.

1. Teardrop jack with spear and wharncliffe blades. Could be possible given the outcome of the 2011 BF forum knife.

2. Cattle knife (a.k.a. stockman) with spear main blade. My perfect version of this one would be built on the #53 frame using the spear from their moose &/or harness jack models and the low-profile sheepsfoot from the #53 Cubans. Should be possible given what GEC has already done.

3. A single-blade #73 frame with a zulu spear blade. Would require some new tooling and blade design, but would really float my boat.

I'm not asking for much...a muskrat/California clip main blade in the #66 frame with a sheepfoot secondary blade with the nail nicks on the same side, with a punch. In other words, a GEC interpretation on the Schrade #899 on the #66 frame. I would like a Northfield in coppermelt and kryptonite acrylic. Thank you!

Problem with this thread is that everybody is offering up such good ideas that if they all came out I'd be bankrupted:D:eek:

Been thinking on, a larger single spring knife 3.75", Swell Centre or Eureka would be a fine idea too. Grizzly Bone, Ram's Horn?

For that matter, a GEC Norfolk would be well worth having too, Tortoise, White Bone...

Some great thoughts have been posted here, guys! Thanks! I've read that GEC monitors things here on BF, so who knows ..... maybe some of these ideas will get put into production. I imagine they have enough ideas of their own to keep 'em busy for 5 or 10 years, but maybe some of these will get moved up to the front burner anyway. We can hope!

Keep them suggestions coming! :D

I know they are but a small operation, but maybe, just maybe they would consider a semi-custom shop? I know that would spell bankrupt for many here, myself included, but consider the possibilities:D

How much fun would that be..........choose your pattern, choose your steel, choose your scales, empty your wallet, and in a few months......whala, perfection!

You are one dangerous dude, Dave! :D
As you and willgoy stated, it could be hazardous to the wallet.
I really like the idea, though! ;)

I wouldn't mind seeing them offer a #48 with a wharncliffe secondary. A single spear blade version of the Dogleg is something else I'd like to see.

What would really float my boat is a Swayback pattern in the 3 5/8" range. To my knowledge the only real option for one of that size is a custom at this time. Add some nicely figured wood scales with an acorn shield and I know I couldn't resist.
