Hello all. I became a member here because I am trying to find some info on a knife I bought years ago at a benefit. I have searched for a few days and have come up empty. A lot of searches directed me to this site. Although it had no specific info it did teach me that this is the place where the experts hang out.

The only thing I know about this knife is what you see in the pics. I got it so long ago I don't remember the exact story of the maker. Only that he is out of Yuma, Arizona and his knives are highly regarded as being of high quality and the street price of this knife was between 300-400.

I am a guitar player and collect guitars, not knives. Although a street price of 3-400 was given at the benefit, I have doubts on that estimate.

So I respectfully ask all of you, can you help out with identifying this or maybe give an idea of what it is worth? It just sits and someone should enjoy it.

Maybe try asking this over in Bernard Levine's sub forum here, lots of very knowledgeable guys in there.

I looked in a bunch of Knives Annual directories from present to 1985. Nothing mentioning a maker from Yuma with those initials. Hoping someone will correct me.

The piece is a basic 3-piece knife: Blade and two slabs of a canvas Micarta, which is utilitarian and not valuable. Not a tapered tang, and the grind is average quality. Nothing especially desirable.

Sure it's well made, but since 'collectibility and value' has much to do with historical provenance, and this maker has no presence even in the industry's publications, I'm sorry to tell you you are looking at something at 1/5th of your announced estimate.

And we generally frown upon giving valuations for non-paying members, but you asked nicely. :)

Good luck. It's a good user.

Thank you very much gentlemen. I appreciate the replies. Since it seems to be more of a utilitarian knife I think I will give it to my dad for Fathers day. It will get used during our Elk hunt this year.
