Hi, havent been around much lately..Been real busy, just thought Id pop in and show you what we been up to...
A carving axe forged from 1060..This one was a bit above my own paygrade..Phillip had to help me a lot on this one..Its a hard shape to get:eek: even he had to step back a few times and scratch his head :p
He also finished the grind for me...Its a outside convex with a wide flat bevel on the inside..

Lisa, that's awesome!!! I've been keeping a casual eye out for a carving hatchet and a bowl adze. Are these two pieces for sale????

I think you two are "spot on" by using an uneven bevel on the carving hatchet. I think many carvers would have a slight preference for a long, flat bevel on the inside (like you did), but to make the steeper bevel also a flat grind. I would think so anyway.

WOW, that's arresting.
How much does that carving axe head weigh?

They look great Lisa. Do you have any plans for a small double bit belt axe?

The top-sharpening adze is a particularly great idea. And I like the point on the carving axe.

Beautiful tools Lisa. I really like the carving axe. If yo have pictures of my hawk you should post em here also.
You can bet I'll post pictures of it when it arrives.
