Hi guys, it's been a while. Been real busy with other hobbies for some time, alot of my collection has been sold, but I still have a few left, my favorites. I miss hanging around here, I don't know how much i'll be on the schrade forum here but I will be browsing around BFC frequently. My father is teaching me to make knives, so my focus has kind of went to home made stuff. I'm comin' round and seeing why codger is so "fixed" in his ways of "fixed" blades....I too am liking fixed blades more and more.

MM, keep us posted on your new career as a knife maker. You're always welcome here, but bring some pics of your knives, either completed or works in progress.

Hey Musky whats up? Stick around. We need some young blood heck just us old farts mucking up past artocities that not many cared about when they happened and no one ( except a few idiot diehards ) care about now. We do have a lot of traffic we got celebritys, ringers, shills and some people who have a genuine interest. I also liked your enthusiasm so don't stray to far from the herd. It is a good way to get picked off . I am still around I guess cause I won't bend I won't bow and I won't burn. Hope to hear from you Shoot low kid they may be riding shetlands. LT

thanks guys, I have a couple in progress, gonna work on a couple some more tommorow. I still like my schrades, and still got some too, my muskrats (of course), my forum knife, the 897UH that many of you here helped me get during the katrina effort, my walden whittler, and a few small pen knives. my most recent is a yellow handle 2 blade pin, it's missing the shield but takes a real good edge. you guys take care

Muskrat,
Good to hear from you. I wondered where you went.
I have been making some knives also. I find it a lot of fun.
I made a Sharpfinger from a blank I got from LT and I put finger grooves in it. I posted it before but here it is again just for you;

I find knife making as much fun as collecting them! My next thing to learn is how to make the sheaths. Paul sent me a couple patterns and I just have to find a leather store so I can get the leather for them.
I hope you have as much fun making them as I do.

that looks good orvet, I like the finger grooves, the grain in the handle is good aswell, nice job!

Hey Dale, if you had said something I would have sent the leather too!!!
I'm anxious to see you turn out a sheath or two

Paul

Hey Musky what kind of shield do you need I can spare one I have about 20 lbs assorted styles I think I can spare one. LT

No problem Paul, but thanks. I have to get to Portland to a Tandy Leather to pick up the leather and some tools. I was on my way to Portland last week when I got rear ended by a pickup pulling a horse trailer. So that ended the trip. I am still a little sore, but my Granddaughter is really sore. She was sleeping with the seat partly reclined and when the guy hit us it rolled her head all the way back to where the back of her head hit her back. We both start Physical therapy for our neck & shoulders this week. Poor kid has missed a week of school already (she is a freshman in High School).
I am going to try and make it to Portland this week or scrounge around Salem and see what I can find. Humm.....I just remembered my Grandmother used to do leather working, I think my Mom may still have her tools. I will give my Mom a call.

You have been more than generous Paul, I really appreciate all your help. But, I really want to get set up with the things I need to do leather work. It is friends like you who make this forum so great.

Thanks again,
Dale

That is a federal style shield. I want a million dollars however I will settle for an address to send it to. just let me know. My pleasure. A you sure you can handle the mechanical end of the project? It is kind of complicated. Take it easy send address. LT

Thanks a million LT, I sent you an email containing my address. I just glue her in, right? I can fit it if need be, i'm kinda handy with needle files if I do say so myself, still haven't got around to trying file work yet though.....someday. Well, i'm out to the garage I got a couple knives marked out that need to be profiled.
take it easy.
