Hello...I am new to the site and I only have a couple of knives so far....I am interested in finding out what the best knives are and where the best places to buy them...Also would like to find out about the laws on the assisted knives...I have a Smith&Wesson S.W.A.T. II and I am trying to find out if it is legal for me to carry it or not...Thank you for anyone who can assist me...

Hi. you can not say where to buy unless they are a dealer here on this site. you can not ask the value of a knife unless you are a gold member or higher. I would call up your SA office and ask them what your state laws are in the knife department on what you can have and carry in your state.

Assisted knives are legal in most places but make sure to check your county laws. Unfortunately state laws and county laws can be very different when it comes to knives.

Welcome! I don't know if assisted knives are legal in Crossville IL. You could probably call someone or google that. Other than that, the "best knife" doesn't exist, it depends on what you using it for. There are great manufacturers, good manufacturers, and bad manufacturers, etc. There are various price points and "best knives for $50.00 or under" but if you stick around and read through the amazing knowledge on this site, you will see that the "best knives" are largely subjective. I recommend you sit back, read a bunch of posts and contribute if you can with real world experience. The search function is your friend, research is part of the fun! Depending on your means, you may be looking for a knife in a certain price range. If you get hooked on sharp things like many on this site, you may end up with a CRK Sebenza (or other $400 knife) in about 6 months. However, you may be the type where you don't see it as a wise decision to spend that much on a pocket knife and realize that $125.00 is about the most you will ever spend. In that case look for a Spyderco, benchmade, Kershaw etc. S&W is well regarded as a gun maker but not so much as a knife maker, research saves you $$. Also, look for local shops that carry some of the aforementioned brands so you can hold them and see if they click with you before buying.

Good luck and again, Welcome!

Welcome to the forum! Now for the education:

Ditch autos, or assists unless it's legal for you to carry, and if you have no strength in your hand. There is a section on the forum just for autos.

That S & W SWAT II is a great blade! I've had mine for many years, and put it through hell. It's still solid.

Start looking at steel type, lock type, materials used, and you'll start seeing what may work for you. This place is great, I had no idea the knife world was so big until I joined.
