I'd also be interested in seeing a pic. BTW, does anyone know what the story is with M.O.D. and Microtech? I've always thought their knives looked strikingly similar, so is M.O.D. a division of Microtech or do they just copy their designs or what?
 
Don't know the relationship between MOD and MT, but I'm sure the bali in question is the same Tachyon that everyone is waiting for. At the very least, Mike did not contract the knife to be completed by MOD, but MT. Maybe if was under MOD we would have seen it by now.

And i agree with Tony that it's undoubtedly the same Tachyon Mr. Turber is bring about for us. Where did you see an add with MOD in the same place?
 
MOD is Masters Of Defense. MT is Microtech. Two separate companies. They are competitors. Both make high quality knives and both specialize in automatic knives. They are two of the best quality production knife companies along with Pro-Tech and Woodward.
The Tachyon is being made by MT. The Benchmade auto's and folders are not of the same quality as those mentioned above. As Benchmade currently makes the best production Balisong, I am anxiously awaiting receipt of the Tachyon. For pictures of the Tachyon click here.

Thanks for the heads up, Hawaiian.:D Now that that's been resolved, does anyone know how it is that Microtech and M.O.D. knives can look so similar without infringing on eachother's patents?

If i remember correctly people at MOD and MT used to work together, i think that designing someting like a knife it'd be really hard to patent the use of certain materials/procedures, MT and MOD uses the same stuff to make their knives, but the models aren't that similar (except in materials used)

But they are both very, very good knives, to me MT has a slight edge in finishing.

Hmmm, a Dalton balisong sounds like it would be affordable and high quality (for those of you who have held or own some Dalton autos you know what I mean) I wonder how we would go about inquiring about one...:confused:

When MOD started, Jim Ray (owner) had Microtech (Tony) do all of the cad and design work. They also built all the prototypes and other stuff. MOD then got off the ground and Tony and Jim went their different ways and are now competitors. They are two seperate companies and there are NO ties between them other than the first few designs and protos. Only the first five knives from MOD had any input from Microtech. The CQD and all knives since have nothing to do with Microtech. There is more to the story but the above is the cliff notes.

The Tachyon is of my design and Tony put my thoughts into a working piece. The first batch should ship on wednesday to us.

Yet again I am just going to have to wait for someone who ordered a two toned bladed tachyon to post pics because it seems that none exist yet.

Guys I am not avoiding posting pics. There simply is no pics of any Stonewash or two tone because I have never seen one myself. Seriously Tony is bringing this down to the wire. So hang tight as I should have the first batch by Friday on the outside.

I just wanted to say that for the most part I am a bali-only guy, and though I have a few folders they will never have my true love, but the protech godfather is AWESOME! That thing almost matches the badass appeal of a bali, and the price is right!
