Hello All,
Was looking for some info on a HI I have listed in the exchange. I purchased this one a couple years back and do not remember the info. With all the knowledge on this forum you guys will have this answered in no time. Also what is the name of the sickle in the pics, I have not posted that one for sale. Thanks.

that first one looks like a Bhojpure or Bojpore

use the name "Bojpore" and the search function to find comparison pics, heck, even perhaps the actual DOTD ;)

i just looked myself, and none of the pictures come up - probably because the website is horked OR because the old picture website is purged. don't know. no pictures though.

Bladite's got the ticket for your ID. The flag on the blade is Vim kamis mark if the blade is two years old, that is if I remember correctly.

The sickle is a villager Hasiya, again IIRC. If it is going up for sale, I will certainly keep my eyes open for it.

I think that sickle is a Hasiya. I know the HI models look different, but IIRC, the name is the same. Is that actually made by HI?

The khukuri looks like it may be a Bonecutter or a Ganga Ram Special due to the lack of a fuller on the blade. The angle at the elbow is throwing me off for identifying it as either of those two though. I think that they are more of the curved models, although some of the curved models did get an angle by some kamis. Sorry for the incomplete ID but I can't get to the HI site to check it against other models as the site is temporarily down. it's completely not a Bonecutter. take it back ;) *cries*

nor is it a Ganga Ram, the elbow is too sharp.

i'm 99% sure it's a Bojepore... it was my first real khukri 15-20 years ago :)

Yes Bladite. I didn't really think it was one of them for the sharp angle reason and as soon as I saw your reply I edited. Now as for the Bhojpure, it may be called a Vojpuri. I was able to look at some DOTD pics of the Vojpuri and they looked much like may1's photo. They also seemed to be made by Vim and had Neem handles.

15 to 20 years ago Bladite? You have been around khukuridom for a while now. Glad you still are with us to pass on your knowledge. I know you were instrumental in pointing out the progression of the Bonecutter from its origin to its present look. It seems that this may lead HI to make it as it was meant to be made and I'm looking forward to it. And I do take it back...I meant no disrespect to your beloved Bonecutter.

Bhojpure, Bhojpore, Bojepure, Vojpuri, Vojpure, and more... phonetics are hard.

been around HI only maybe 10 years, much much longer with other items.

the original HI Sgt Khadkas were of course perfect and supposedly his alone. later, the other kamis got into the act, and they like to tinker, and made changes - which personally i wasn't too keen on but that's what they do ;)

hopefully, they'll start over with the Sgt's good work as the one true template and things will be good again. plus a full range of sizes.

and i was only kidding :) heh heh :>

Yep - chiming in that it is indeed a villager Vojpuri (various spellings and Aunty seems to use a different one each time ;)). Have one by Sher the tiger that looks very similar... Handle is a bit thick for my hands, but it's still the kukri I reach for when I need one that's a bit more ax-like. 37oz, 17/32"ish thick, very forward heavy, with a long sweet spot and a perfect bevel - acute enough for a very deep bite while still obtuse enough to not get stuck. The thing just blows chunks out of wood though it tends to wear me out pretty fast.

And as already mentioned, the second is a villager hasiya. Mentioned here by Steve recently and with the link to Howard's review provided.

Thanks for all the info guys. Looks like the villager hasiya is not made too often, as a couple of people pmed about selling it. In the one review I finally see how you were supposed to wear the hasiya holder, never could figure that one out.
