Hi! I'm new here. I'm not a huge knife guy but more of a militaria type collector. I was fortunate to pick up an old WW2 era Schrade Presto about a month ago. I always wanted one of those but figured the prices of these would outpace by willingness/ability to buy one. With a bit of luck, I found this one in a small antique store in Illinois and the price seemed reasonable so I bought it. I've include a picture here:

Once I got that, that rekindled my longtime desire to acquire a quality beefy automatic utility knife and am pleased with what I got. I ended up buying this benchmade 9050 knife and am very pleased with it:

All this rekindled knife interest reminded me of the utility type knives I had in the past. I recall the Barlow folding knife I had when I entered the service in '75. I didn't have it too long as it soon fell out of my pocket and now sits at the bottom of a lake at Ft Polk, La. No pictures of that one!
My next knife purchase was a rather large Buck folding knife in a leather sheath affixed to my belt. That was purchased in '76 at the PX but stolen by a "friend" soon after.
Then I purchased this Buck 501 pocket knife in '77 which I still have:

Also that same year, I purchased this used german army fixed blade knife while stationed with the 1st Division in Germany. It also came in handy in the field:

That's about all I got! Kim

if ya like old military items you should pick up a WW2 Cattaraugus 225 Q knife they can be had on ebay for a pretty good price and they are built like a tank, leather washer handle, old carbon steel blade, good stuff

Hi Kim; welcome to a great forum!

I have 2 Buck 501s; one in wood and one in Micarta.

Great carry knives!

Great photos, welcome aboard! I am scared that I might get into the militaria collecting part, but it might make my slipjoint collection jealous, and drive my wife bonkers!

Thanks for the warm welcome guys!
I think I'll be hanging out awhile since I seem to have acquired another dreaded hobby/collection niche!
